Note: Best Buy and Target - limit one per account/household (tried on seperate accounts, no dice).

Super stoked, I managed to snag two! Guess I will finally upgrade my Switch (only to have it replaced by a Pro or whatever is next ... by end of year).

It's really odd that they've been up for ... quite awhile. I wonder if they're mass producing? Thankfully BB/Target are slowing down the scalping by imposing restrictions.

Wow, still available. Did Nintendo have a rough fiscal year or something? This is really surprising that stock is plentiful! They're clearly going to milk the hell out of this one.

It's hard to justify dropping 350+ dollars on a system you already own, even for a special edition. And just about everyone has a Switch nowadays.

Switch is also 6 years old at this point and there are a lot of people expecting its successor to be announced this year.

So I think while a lot of folks want one they might be afraid of getting burned

This is crazy. They had to have made a ton of these. Special edition Nintendo consoles just don't last like this, especially Zelda.

Totally agreed; however, when it comes to anything Zelda, logic usually goes out the window. Yet, not this time. Hopefully goes to show that the consumers are telling Nintendo it's time for a true upgrade.

I don't think there's ever been stock issues for most special edition Switch systems. Also many of the past Zelda themed systems that were specific for a game had the game bundled with it.

They're still going to sell a lot of these, but I won't be surprised if we see these available into Christmas season.

Sure, but it's possible to sell one's current Switch, or keep it as a backup (I'll be doing the former). I've inadvertently gotten Zelda special edition systems since the 3DS XL, so I'm continuing the tradition. Plus, there are a lot, like a lot of people out there from what I've read that still have the original model Switch, often a launch Switch, that would like to upgrade to the OLED regardless of a new system coming (which of course will happen, but there's nothing indicating any announcement right now). So this is a good buy for them.

I view this as an upgrade from a regular Switch to a nice looking OLED that I'll appreciate every time I take it out. The kickstand upgrade and the larger screen are appreciated too.

What do you mean you've inadvertently gotten Zelda editions? How does that happen?

When I was ready to get a new system, there happened to be a Zelda version coinciding with my decision. I wanted to upgrade my 3DS to an XL, and the Link Between Worlds edition was releasing around that time. Same thing with the WiiU. I never really played Zelda games before that, just Windwaker on GC and Twilight Princess on Wii, so I wouldn't count myself as a fan that went out of my way for Zelda themed systems.

I do now though.

IMO, the Zelda 2DS XL is the best Zelda themed system Nintendo has made. I'm bummed that I don't own it and that it's now way too expensive to justify buying

Holy ๐Ÿ„! Just looked it up. Why's it so expensive! Unacceptable!

I think I considered buying one at the time, but didn't, because I was happy with my plain 3DS. That Zelda 2DS is very nice though.

That SP sure is sweet. And the box is really nice too. I think you're right about it being an import. I remember the box having importy words on it or something.

Yah, I've been debating it for... What feels like at least 10-15 years! I remember when it was only like $200 and I was like... It'll come down in price! Now it's around a grand (used, CIB), ugh.

I snagged my Phantom Hourglass console (sealed) during a weak time, but I can't justify this splurge, even used. Ideally I'd want it sealed to go with the others but that's just out of any form of reality now.

Maybe if I win a scratch off or a casino night out I'll pull the trigger =)

How about we split it? We'll each pay half and saw it right down the middle of the box.

I seem to end up with a Zelda version of every Nintendo console that gets one, and I guess the Switch is no exception.

Except GBA. Can't beat the Classic NES Edition.

Switch is still selling very well, so I doubt it. It'll probably beat the PS5 in April-May, it's still dominating Japan, and it's well over doubling Xbox sales this year globally.

That said I'm confident we'll see something in terms of an upgrade in the next year or so. Hopefully they continue their trend of staying out of the latest console market as their recent attempts have disappointed in market share (Wii U, GC). When they innovate and sacrifice cutting edge graphics they succeed (handheld, Wii, Switch). This allows them to turn games more rapidly, though the Switch is an anomaly as I'm certain they held projects back from the Wii U to release on Switch plus all the Dx content.

I'd be very disappointed if they go back to a console/handheld model, and if it's not backwards compatible. Based on recent history they've been fixing the previous system's fault. Wii U fixed the downgraded graphics of the Wii plus gave better control and online options. The Switch is what the Wii U should have been. So Switch 2.0 should be an enhanced Switch, maybe a little more powerful than a PS4. We'll probably see a better, more expensive NES Online, and I wouldn't be shocked to see backwards compatibility tied to it somehow (hope I'm wrong). The big thing is it will need to be able to handle games made with the current big engines, like UE5, even if the ports are stripped down a bit.

Still available! Was not expecting that.

Controllers still haven't hit all retailers yet, those clearly seem to be more desirable. I have 4 pro controllers now, hard to justify opening one (will keep one for collection).

Wonder if more CE games will be released. Amazon just had a wave a couple days ago but were gone by the time I read the tweet.

Well, the controllers do cost less, and people usually need more controllers than consoles. I'm just hoping Nintendo see the demand for the controllers and makes enough. I haven't managed to get one, but it'd look great with the two Monster Hunter Pro controllers.

I'm super tempted. I'm still rocking my launch day Switch.

As already mentioned though, speculation is that we will receive either a stronger Nintendo console within the next year. I'd love to grab this special edition console since BOTW became one of my all-time favorites, but $360 is a tough pill to swallow right now. If it had been $249 I'd have likely bought it without question (although it likely would have sold out).

Still available ... man. I'm torn on whether or not to open.

I have a v2 Switch + Switch Lite. The latter barely gets use (it's my kids) - he'd rather play on the TV.

Given his increased use, I'm thinking Dad needs a new one for the basement! Yet, expensive to open one and keep one sealed - the later is clearly stupid, but I have all other Zelda consoles still sealed (handhelds).

Just feels like it's gonna get replaced oh so soon. There has to be a new Switch on the horizon.

It felt like a huge flop at the time. Werenโ€™t moving at all then just gone and secondary market went nuts. It was a cool set. One of my faves.
