PSA for fans of Ubisoft's racing game The Crew, they are pulling the plug on the servers in April.
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-crew-removed-from-sale...For those not aware, this game requires an internet connection to play, even in single player. So rather than releasing a patch to allow people to play offline, Ubi has chosen to render all copies of this game useless, and is encouraging you to play one of the still active sequels instead. (Though you can probably count on those games to suffer the same fate in another few years.)
Just a friendly reminder that any game that requires an online connection to play single player has a hidden expiration date built in.
Ubisoft has been the most visible company to release these kinds of games, with the entire The Crew series, Steep, and Rider's Republic requiring a continuous online connection, though a handful of games from other publishers have similar limitations.
