Didn't see any topics on it but if you have the spare cash and liked the first, I highly recommend it. The graphics are amazing, it is fun, great boss fights and they did an amazing job duplicating L.A. for the game.
Some people complained it is too short, but being older generation that is fine by me. DLC is coming for it. I'm so happy it finally came out and is being rated so well across many sites/groups. So give it a try or put it on your wish list!

I personally didn't care for the combat loop somewhat. The environment and story is acceptable so far but I am giving up on it. I do like the details added though. The lack of map and it being more linear and enemies being damage sponges didn't help. I have a feeling Star Wars Survivors will also do the same but will be more acceptable to me.

I want to get this but $70 is a tall order. Plus I still have Dying Light 2 to sift thru. Me and my buddy are waiting for a price drop. I’d pull the trigger at 45ish.

I ended up getting this with partial credit. And I fully regret it. Should have gotten the Jedi game instead. I hate all the "slayers". I find them all annoying. And they all have a stat/attribute distribution that makes them all annoying to play. And the over the top cringy humor is grating. I don't remember the first game being this bad. Also the combat is not as good as everyone makes it out to be. Its far worse than Dying Light's combat. I can't get a refund, and I hear this is a very short linear game. So I'll rush through it if I can. But I see myself giving up on this before the 5 hour mark.

I hate these games but my wife loves them, so I got it for her. I'll probably play it eventually.

lol wow I'm surprised at all the hate... oh well I'm enjoying myself. The boss fights are good. I haven't seen any cringy humor... but I'm playing Amy so it might be different for whoever you pick.
It's not open world but there's tons to explore...

Her (Amy) and fire fighter dude (Ryan?) are the only two that don't constantly make crapty jokes and horrible puns from what I've been reading. I'm think about starting over with one them. Probably Amy because of her agility and speed. But she has no health/resistance. Ryan has no agility at all (moves like a rock), but lots of health/resistance. All the others are non stop talking and saying dumb crap. I really liked playing with Dani for a bit mechanics wise. As I feel like she has the best stamina and strength combo. And her power hits create a small explosion that knock enemies to the ground (character special trait). And she regens stamina really fast. But after awhile her over exaggerated Scottish musing are getting to me. She isn't just a Scottish person. Shes a caricature using all the tropes to mock a Scottish person. I find it grating. So I'm debating starting over with either Amy or Ryan and replaying that 90 minutes. I also tried to use Jacob. But I found him annoying as well. I just wish games would stop having talking protagonist. Its the worst. I mean talking in dialogue is fine. But all this random "flavor" bullcrap while running around is horrible. I'm probably just an old grump. And games really are not targeted at me anymore, I get that. I most likely would not have had a problem with any of this 10 years ago. Which is most likely why I remember the first game differently.

EDIT: After switching to Amy, who talks way less overall and also doesn't constantly say stupid crap. I'm liking it a bit more. She is a glass cannon early due to low health. But her speed makes it more fun.

I really enjoyed Dead Island 1 and I’m sure I’ll enjoy part 2 it’s just idk I’m against buying most games at the new normal of $70 nowadays cause reasons. And most games either drop in price pretty quickly post launch or end up on Game Pass.

Right there with ya. I've only paid full price for one game so far this year. And if not for redeeming rewards points for $35 in gift cards, I would not have bought a game today either.

The last time I spent this new $70 nonsense on games was God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West. I don’t think I ever will again though until they come to their senses and revert back to $60, which they likely won’t because the shadow of greed consumes them.

Amy gains more health as i'm sure most do. I spend a lot of time running, climbing up on things and trying to make a stradegy.

I think $70 is the new $50

Some games are still releasing at $60 and some indie games are well worth there $5-40 price tag.

Yeah every level up. And that is what I'm doing with her too. Because she is so fast. And her throwing ability is far better than any of the others. So you can jump up on something, throw your weapon at them, from quite a distance. Run down and get it and finish them off while they are on the ground from the 40 meter head shot you did with a machete. Then run away from the pack again. But using her was the first time I died. Not paying attention to the health too much. Then noticed how small her HP pool was at level 2. Which was another thing I loved about the Dani character. She has a massive amount of HP to go with the insane amount of stamina she has.

I'm around level 12 now and got guns and am having a lot more fun. It's less dangerous roaming around. Death means little since you respawn really close to where you die. I'm finding tons of keys but having issues finding where they go to so I'm exploring every nook now and taking my time.

I played a couple minutes of it last night and combat felt really hefty, might actually dig in to this one as a nighttime "got an hour" game

I've really come around on this game after putting some time into it. I'm actually really loving that it isn't open world. That its not just a map barf game with pointless side quests and collectables. Its just smaller maps you travel between. And that the story is mostly linear. With not an over the top amount of side quests to distract you from it too much. So far they all work along the path of the main story. You can clear/explore an entire map pretty quickly (so far). Know right away what you can do now and what you have to come back to the map later for. The maps also tell you clearly how many story missions, side missions and collectables/puzzles are in that particulate map. And the game tells you how many over all in the main menu you've done and still to do. It was clearly made to be a shorter experience, 25-30 hours. And to be replayed with different characters. Instead of a long 80 hour slog. I appreciate that. The combat is not as fun anymore however. But I am appreciating the ramp up in difficulty to keep the combat from feeling too stale. And constantly getting new skills and things to fight with.

Having it not be an open world is what’s drawing me to it as well. I prefer open areas in a level or chapter basis like RE4R as opposed to a vast open world. The market is overly saturated with sandbox games nowadays and it’s nice to see a game every once in a while pay homage to the more linear based games of olde.

I got to Venice Beach and it feels huge and open now, but it really isn't so it isn't overwhelming either. Still having a blast. Once the combat starts to feel stale they add new elements and stuff, powers, weapons, etc.
