So when I was younger, I played Harvest Moon. I enjoyed it. So I tried to play newer versions and I've found myself not enjoying it as much...

While I actually probably got it roughly at least a year ago and played it for a bit, I have recently been hooked on a Harvest Moon clone called "Graveyard Keeper." I've put about 200 game days into it so far and I think I've still got plenty to do. You not only do the typical stuff you do in Harvest Moon... but you take care of a graveyard and a church, perform "autopsies" and harvest organs for meat and ingredients, You also perform quests for NPCs and raise their levels so you can become more friendly with them as some of them have stuff you need to complete quests with other NPCs. Another thing you can do which I haven't been able to do yet, you can create zombies to help you do grunt work. I'm looking forward to seeing how that pans out when I am able to start doing it, but for now I've been pretty hooked on it.

Anyone got any games they enjoyed that have clones that seem more enjoyable to them?

There was this awesome game for the Famicom called Doki Doki Panic. It was a cool 2D platformer where you could choose from four playable characters with different strengths and explore a dreamy world. Your goal: Defeat the frog emperor.

As fun as it is, I prefer knockoff of it.

A little bit I think... the only thing that I can recall that reminds me of Valley in Keeper is the fishing part... I think I'm getting the hang of how it works...

If you like Harvest Moon then I highly recommend playing Stardew Valley.

Today I learned that Konami reverse engineered Super Mario Bros. 3 and essentially re-used that engine for Tiny Toon Adventures on the NES.

Never played it but I hear it controls well

What's really funny, is somebody ROM hacked that specific game, adding in the SMB3 Mario sprite raspberry

It definitely doesn't run as well as the original SMB3, but that's cool to learn it was a reverse-engineered game engine.

I'll have to do some more research on it, I love weird crap like this raspberry

That’s amazing if they did that. I don’t really remember the NES game but I remember thinking the SNES game was solid.

Loved Tiny Toon show... I remember the game for the NES, but don't remember if I ever played it.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is better than Breath of the Wild.

I said it here now too

I've got that in my backlog on Switch, however if I choose to keep PS+ Extra or Premium I might opt to play it on PS5 instead since it is offered in the Ubisoft section.

The Mummy Demastered is a pretty solid Metroidvania by WayForward. It’s about five hours long, has a good level of challenge, great graphics. It usually gets discounted digitally around Halloween each year, so I recommend getting it then.
