So I bought Dead Island 2 for PS5 a couple of months back. Installed it. It appeared to install fine. But now that I’m finally ready to play it the game says it needed to finish installing as it didn’t finish when I initially did it and that the disc is unreadable. I purchased it on 9/29 and emailed their customer support and hope they’ll do an exchange at least as the disc has one scratch that appears a little deep on one side of the disc. I also tried installing 2 other games from discs to ensure it wasn’t my PS5 and they both installed successfully. I’m hoping they’ll at least honor an exchange as it’s outside of the return window. Has anyone else experienced this type of thing with GameFly discs? It’s my second time buying used games from them and now I’m weary I’ll ever do it again.

On both PS4 and X1X I had like 1-2 games have trouble installing. I had to cancel and/or delete and retry 5-6 times and it eventually took. It helped to be offline so that no update checks happened, get it installed, and then go online and apply updates.

But in general no, everything I've bought from Gamefly has been mint, complete, and issue free.

My only other thought is if you're near capacity on storage. It may need to unzip/unpack some of the install files and doesn't have enough room?

I don't have any facts to base this on but I've always felt that Sony DL's a zip file, unpacks it, and then copies it. That's the only reason I can see for the timing and delay between Done and Ready. On Xbox it's all far quicker so they seem to be doing something different.

Yeah I have like 160gb left on my internal storage but also have like 500gb on my internal SSD and tried installing it to the internal SSD and the same error message populated. And at the same time I was able to install Street Fighter 6 and tested Dark Souls remastered and both copied to my internal storage with no problems.

I tried the offline trick and it still stops at around 7GB and says the disc read error again. Ah well. Thanks anyway! I wonder if clearing the cache would work. Hmm.

All good. GameFly accepted a return at least and is refunding me my money. I’ll just pick it up again another time on another sale. Thanks again!

Most things I get from GameFly look like they’ve never been used. I did get a copy of remnant 2 with a finger print on it. Easy fix that.
