What are your current standout indie rpgs?

I’m digging Astlibra:Revision, great story and gameplay and super addicting

Next up is Chained Echos which I’ve heard is great as well. Jack move seems good too so that’s something I may check out if I don’t end up liking chained echoes

Looking forward to Sea of Stars next year

I'm a fan of a Might and Magic homage game called Legend of Amberland iirc. Probably the indie I enjoyed most this year. No clue when it was released. Other indies have been hit or miss.

Undertale was awesome and unique, only recently played it

Never heard of it. Thanks I’ll check it out

Symphony of War is one I haven’t had time to dive deep into but it’s good and from what I’ve read it very much akin to tactics ogre 64 (never played that)

Solasta is good if you like or are interested in DnD. Voice acting is terrible but the gameplay is solid 5e

Was any of the game spoiled for you?

Not really except i DID know going in that it’s possible to actually not kill any of the monsters and it seemed like the better way to go so that’s how i played it, full pacifist run.
But other than that I avoided reading too much for fear of spoilers, once I was sufficiently intrigued to try it

I believe I installed the demo of Astlibra on Steam, need to play it. My daughter recently played Omori on Switch which had been out on Steam for a couple years, but she really liked it a lot.

@DrizzDrizzDrizz

After you had beaten undertale, did you replay it at all?

No, and i dont think I feel tbh, although I can definitely see why others would, it seems to have good replay value

I just felt like I got enough from that particular world and I wanted to end it on a high (rather than “forcing” myself to do another run but change things up)

Why do you ask, are you thinking of playing it? It’s about a 10 hr long game for one run, for what it’s worth

I played it. Beat it. Enjoyed it. Good music, humor, overall good fun.

After I had beaten it, someone told me that there's a lot of story related things to uncover via replaying. So I was curious if you had replayed it.

A friend of mine just started playing Chained Echoes. So far liking it. He was telling me about an interesting battle mechanic that was implemented. (I won't spoil it)

My brother in law said Chained Echoes rules, so once I have a little extra scratch I'm getting that one. I'm also super curious about Undertale so that's one I need to play, too.

Darkest Dungeon also fudging rules. It's so hard but very rewarding. I haven't beaten it yet because I haven't been in the right space to dedicate to it (which you definitely need), but I loved my time with it.

Yeah I like that game a lot too. It’s been awhile since I’ve played it. Never beat it but I’m eager for the sequel to release on steam

I recently updated my 2022 RPG remake of a 1997 game I made to version 1.8. It's fairly short and simple to play (with QoL things like save anywhere, speed up/down the game, secret codes, some puzzles can change with each play through), and it's 100% free to play.

(Works in every browser I've tried except for the PS4 for some reason)

Here's a video showcasing parts of the game. Feel free to give it a try if it seems interesting to you:
