Backlogs become more like collections, like an action figure you think is cool but never open and play with it.

yes a while back I sold some games off to lower my backlog, but I end up having to buy them again because I actually want to play them. But some games I sell that I'm perfectly fine with never playing again. I've just been buying some 360 and wii games I actually want to play.

Got the Oregon Trail remake. I’m really digging it so far. Feels like it has lots of replay value.

Yah, I think for $30. I had a small amount of buyer’s remorse for spending that on Oregon Trail of all things, but that feeling has gone away. Having a ton of fun with it.

I need to look into it. A modernized Oregon Trail could be a lot of fun. I'd definitely be waiting for a sale though lol

I guess most of my play time was earlier in the year.

I haven't gone online with my switch in quite awhile, so the results I got from year in review aren't so accurate.

But what I got was:

1. Hades
2. Kirby Star Allies
3. Minecraft Dungeons

Hades is definitely most played for this year for me. 100-200 hours. Great game.

@KCPenguins Prior to playing Hades, I hadn't played many games in the Rogue genre. Slay the Spire was one. Liked it. Decided to give Hades a try. Glad I did.

I bought Hades at launch but haven’t played it in forever. Really need to get back to it. I picked up a physical copy from GameStop for $8, thanks to gift certificates.

As far as what's different, I don't see hours played. Which is fine, because I'll never beat my high a few years back since I play all my different consoles now. I think I had 2400 hours or something like that a few years back.

It’s been confirmed that all games are on cart. Zero/ZX Collection also had them all on cart.

I'm seeking to get a schmup - I'm down to either Crimzon Clover or waiting til tomorrow for Akai Kitana, anyone have any input on this? I never played Akai Kitana, and honestly haven't solidly played a schmup in a long time, but really craving it lately once I discovered a bunch through Yurukill.

Portal Companion Collection is on sale. I've always been interested in the games, never played them. $14 and I'll take the gamble now that I've expanded memory.

Did the original Oregon Trail always have various different expeditions to unlock? Real impressed with how much variation there is in this remake. I just remember vanilla Oregon Trail on a few computers back in grade school.

My top 3 games played this year were Splatoon 3, Yoshi's Crafted World, and Rocket League. Truth be told, my top played games this year were on Xbox. I switched over to Rocket League on my Series S because it is so much better (faster, smoother, and Ethernet connection). I played the crap out of Elden Ring, Hades, Rocket League, and a bunch of other games.

Splatoon 3 (mostly Salmon Run) made up about 90% of my Switch time this year.

Ya for me it's salmon run and smash bros

Alien Storm, Columns, Golden Axe II and Virtua Fighter 2 are on Genesis Online now for expansion plus members.

Beat Portal. First new to me game I've beaten in quite some time. Pretty slow start and middle. Really picked up at the end. I'm going to wait a little while to jump into Portal 2.

Finished Unmetal. Game is funny.

I loved Unmetal. One of my fave Indies of the past couple of years.

Yeah I'm sure they'll announce more stuff, I was just curious about what was already known!

I think Pikmin 4 in 2023 is a bit of wishful thinking, but I'd sure love it. I think 2024 is a bit more likely unfort.

Otherwise, I'd say other than Zelda, I'm also excited to varying degrees for:
-Kirby: Return to Dreamland Deluxe (not huge into Kirby but I could probably go in on this one)
-Disney Illusion Land (a Mickey Mouse platformer but where all the characters are drawn in that old school, classic style. Looks decently fun.)
-It's a Wonderful Life (bringing my favorite Harvest Moon game to Switch is neat)

Hogwarts Legacy is also slated for Switch in July (months after it drops for other consoles), but I'm sure most folks who want to play that will be doing so without the Switch.

There are some YouTubers suggesting that 2023 may see Mario Odyssey 2, a new Donkey Kong game, and Metroid Prime 4... does anyone know if there's any credibility to any of that?

I'm so ready for a new 3D Mario. I really hope we get one next year, it's been too long. I'd be happy with Odyssey 2, 3D World 2, Galaxy 3, a new Mario in the style of Mario 64, or something brand new! I'm also ready for the Prime remasters to start dropping, I've been itching to give that series another shot.

Wasn't Pikmin 4 basically done in 2015 according to Miyamoto himself, or was that a different Pikmin 4?

All I want is that damn Advance Wars to drop

The new update for TMNT Cowabunga Collection adds online multiplayer for SNES Turtles in Time, and different color palettes for the GB games. They also changed the home icon because people were whining about it lol.

That's exciting. Releasing two days before Christmas with a somewhat stealth drop and no reviews doesn't ease my concerns. Will wait for reviews and impressions first, but I'm hoping it's as good as the first.

I finally started playing Cuphead. Just beat Grim Matchstick which was the first boss to really give me a lot of trouble. What’s annoying is that I eventually learned that I was making it harder by using the homing shot during phase 3. I didn’t realize that hitting those fireballs is what made them split. I thought that was happening automatically. I switched over to the lobber and beat it pretty easily. Besides this one, most bosses haven’t taken too many attempts. (Baroness lady only took one.)

Really enjoying the game and probably should have played it sooner.

That reminds me, I still need to play the Cuphead DLC.

That reminds me, I still have to actually beat that friggin game.
