Is Answer in the remake? If not, I'm gonna be stuck keeping Marin fudgein' Karin FES around…

The only reason I'd say go with the new version is that you can directly control all party members in battle. If you don't mind them auto battling, 3 FES is the way to go, that's how I played it. It's a great game and has a much darker tone than 4 or 5.

There's a controllable party members cheat for P3 Fes that works pretty well in an emulator.

I was annoyed when this was announced. I forgot about it and now I'm annoyed again LOL.

Holy crap is this port bad. I can't play this. They did nothing to this. Its the exact mobile version from PSP on console. And its terrible like this. They didn't even modernize the controls to a controller. They just re-mapped a couple buttons. Its awful. The game worked on PSP/Vita like this. But what a terrible experience with a controller 14 years later. I'd rather dig out the PS2 and play FES than even attempt to play this version. But instead I'll just go be a big bro and play the best persona game, P4G.

But it did feel really bad trying to play it on an xbox controller. I can't speak for PS4/5 controller setup. But oddly P4G feels much better on that controller. They updated that one. But that may also just be due to that releasing on the Vita and not the PSP. The Vita had more buttons due to the dual touch screen. So they didn't really have much to do than re-map a couple inputs.

I think it's mostly fine. Buy it and then snag an ISO IMO, if you need FES. Or just pay twice as much to pick it up on PS2. I'm at least gonna install it off PC Game Pass.

Emulator with fast-forward is a godsend. Save states are also super helpful when hunting for enemies with rare drops.

Honestly, pacing for the PSP game seems godlike. I might try out FES later but this seems fine so far, only stopped playing to get up, get some water and do some push-ups, gotta keep it tite. Already inside Tartarus.

It's definitely weird. In like, an hour and ten minutes of gameplay I think I got 7 minutes of what I would consider to be Persona ...gameplay. The rest was clicking through the story. It's not a bad story, but if I already knew it I'd be miffed

I still ended up getting it on Switch. At least its portable. I'm a cuck dog. I do have FES but portability is crucial for JRPGs with kids and total party control is so much better.

I would imagine its fine on Switch. That would be like playing it on a giant PSP, lol.

It's fine. I just miss the fully 3d world of FES so much. That battle system is a deal breaker though.

Fun story, in my multiple moves I lost my UMD of P3P but still have the case, forever taunting me of the money I could sell it for.

Persona 3 FES was "fully 3D" and not Persona 3 Portable?

well yeah, Persona 3 was fully 3D. This is just a port of the PSP remake which is basically a VN with occasional dungeon and fight sequences, extremely rudimentary. The rest is just 2D shots of the 3D game with chat bubbles over it.

It was made for PSP so it sorta makes sense? Not in the context of 2023 tho

Soundtrack is still 100% amazing.

When you're in Tartarus (which I actually like as a dungeon, unlike everyone else) you forget it's a subpar version of the overall game.

Same here. Haven't replayed it in a while, so if there is a remake, here is hoping it doe the Fez version justice.

I can't imagine the remake rumor is true. It would hurt sales of this one. And hurt sales of the remake. As people wouldn't play it again so soon. Unless its not coming out until 2025 or something.

Also I gave this another shot after talking about it so much. Didn't expect to end up playing this, but am now over 5 hours into the game.

After looking it up however, DQ3 was released on the Switch in 2019. And they announced a remake of it in 2021. Which may or may not come out in 2023, as there has been no official news or a release date announced from them since. Also DQ is SqEnix, not Atlus.

But to your point, Atlus has been known to release game updates one year apart. Even using P3 as an example, FES came out exactly one year after the original P3. Same with P5 and P5R. But for this one though, Atlus has not said anything. Its just rumor from fans.

But the reality is I'm just trying to convince myself I'm not wasting my own time playing this now. Only to be annoyed a better version is released within the next year, lol.

Just found this in a storage box of ps2 games. Oh wow. Sealed and minty.

Nice. I sold my sealed Persona 3 FES a few years back.

I would have much preferred to play FES for all the animations. But I have to say, I really enjoyed this playthrough. I might actually now do a second to get all the achievements and finally see the FemMC route. I've never finished a FemMC run. Although P4G is calling. So maybe after that. Not sure I can sit through the same story for another 60 hours back to back like that.
