FFS, I paid for the HotStock premium, and I still keep missing the stock alerts for the Portal. Some crap that the insta-buy feature is iOS only.

Was having issues with my Portal for a little while. Was not able to use it in my apartment at all without constantly being disconnected from my PS5. Tried bringing it to my parent's house and trying it on their much faster wi-fi, still could not establish any sort of usable connection. My apartment wii-fi has always been god awful, so I figured the Portal was a good excuse to revamp my home network. I was able to use my Portal in my living room with absolutely 0 issue and playedd a few hours of Mafia II while watching the Knicks game

I don't buy much from LRG but when they hit on a game I want I appreciate their existence. As far as P3. I'm waiting for P3 Reload hopefully on switch 2.

For releasing a physical of a very old version of a game that’s getting a major upgrade in a few weeks at premium prices- again. They’ve strayed pretty far from their mission statement of preserving digital games as physical- releasing games that already exist as physical and coat tailing off an upcoming release. They’re pretty much a heavy dose of high priced shovelware with the occasional re-release of an already existing physical title. They suck. Their take loads of money up front on tons of titles and ship them way down the road model just feels pretty shady too. He said it was just to cover “costs” back when he frequented the boards- you’d be a fool to believe that. Investing 101-

Yeah if the owner is a piece of crap, I'm not gonna argue that. I can probably count the LRG in my collection that I've kept on one hand. But I do appreciate having those as part of my switch collection. Not going to defend LRG in any way.

Figure I’d see if anyone following this topic would be interested in a Legion go. I’m kinda on the fence about letting it go, it to be honest… but have the urge to try something new.

Would be interested in PayPal or a PS5 disc version bundle (haven’t owned a PS5 yet). PM if interested.

the Steam Deck chiak4Deck app was updated recently for Remote Play for PS5 and it's even better than the last update. Not sure why anyone wants a Portal. You can even user Bluetooth devices on it.

The intended market probably doesn’t have a steam or gog etc library. Makes more sense to pay for what you use instead of a premium for portability in a technically handicapped and almost obsolete “pc” not to mention these things aren’t exactly plug and play- as easy as it is some can’t configure them.

If you can put together furniture or Legos, you can install Chiaki4deck.

I am not going to spend double on a Steam Deck or more on a Legion Go for something the portal does amazingly well for half the cost. I do t use it as much as I thought, but I am still very glad I have it. Right now buying a Steam Deck or other portable PC would be a complete waste. I want to build a PC, not something amazing but something I can play Supreme Commander 2 and it's new spiritual successors or Anno. I am not playing any of those games on a smaller Mobile screen. Even in docked, may as well have a PC that's easy for my wife to use.

The Portal has a market and is still hard as hell to find. I have yet to see one on store shelves...

Man, even when I happen to be on my phone as a HotStock notification goes off ... it's still too late.

They’re also posting these all over the FOMO boards and sites. There is an artificial need for portals right now that may take a few weeks to calm once inventory catches up.

Just happened again I was browsing here it popped I clicked within a millisecond and it made me log in and then it was gone.

That’s a bummer. I was able to grab one Monday, I didn’t subscribe to the premium service. I also had to wait in the que but eventually I was prompted to log in and confirm my account… then redirected to the payments page.

My Portal is “out for delivery”

Been fussing with the Portal for a few hours now. I’m digging it overall. I primarily play in my living room where my nodes are at. Had a couple connection issues where the connection would drop completely and I had to reconnect. I also had a couple issues where waking my ps5 from sleep I couldn’t connect. The ps5 was prompting me to push the ps button on the DualSense which bugs since I don’t want to have to go mess with the ps5 if I’m in the other room.

The portal’s screen is really nice and games look great. A few stutters here and there during game play but not really a big deal. Overall it’s been a good experience.

Yeah I get stutters too. What I don't like is that when I first played it, I hardly noticed a single hiccup at all. But now I've been getting them pretty frequently. Nothing's really changed and when I test the internet at both spots (portal area, PS5 area) I get like 85mbps. So it really shouldn't be that bad. And when I test on my ipad I don't get any stutters what so ever.

I'm starting to wonder if the portal is just a worse connection than other devices or it's just my specific unit. It's so bad I even turn my room fan off thinking it's causing interference. Some times it seems to help. But that removes a comfort level bc I like having the fan on. It's just I'm trying everything, because nothing is worse than audio stutters or hiccups while listening to a story sequence in Like a Dragon, or any other RPG.

It's like I might sell this one and try portal again later. But if my unit has a defect then I'm selling a possible wonky unit to some other poor soul. I wish I could just buy a brand new one right now just to know once and for all if it's just my unit. Or maybe I should just forget about the portal and never buy another one, unless a new PS5 comes out that can DIRECTLY communicate with the portal, like the WiiU did.

@ErickRPG set up Chiaki on your legion go. If it performs better then that might help you decide whether to keep it or not.

That’s what I’m going to do. I plant on testing the Chiaki remote play later today myself.

Do these portable things have docks? I’m in the market for a new computer and I’m thinking about a Legion or Ally since they run Windows and I have like 2 1/2 years of Game Pass. I’d like to have flexibility to do some gaming. I’m either going to get a portable like this or a mini PC like those Ace Magician PCs I’ve seen on Amazon that MetalJesus reviewed a few months back. The Steam Deck has an official dock, but the unofficial ones will likely fit any of the portables. They're just USB-C cables with a big slot to hold the device.

I just got a steam deck. Definitely want to try the dock soon.

I have a deck and two different docks. I got the jsaux dock initially before the official one came out and then the valve one. I’d def just get the jsaux as it works just as well and in fact the official one has issues with certain tvs while jsaux does not.

My PlayStation Portal Haptics are noisy even set to weak. Scratching, scraping, clicking noises (not vibration) when I’m playing games like Madden (to be fair I haven’t played much else yet). I’ll have to try a few other games to see if it continues.

Those that have a Portal, are your haptics noisy? Does what I describe above sound normal?

That does not sound normal at all to me. I feel the haptics but don’t hear them. Try a different game, maybe it’s something with madden?

It’s the trigger resistance. I turned it of and the the weird noises go away. I searched Reddit and a lot of folks say they experience the same thing. I guess it’s normal? Maybe mine is nosier than most? I may call Sony, I dunno. I’ll leave off cause it bugs.

I love my Ally and it replaced my gaming laptop fully. I dock it on the road and it performs great. PS3, Switch and Xbox 360 all run really well on it, every game I've tried at least. I love the VRR on the Ally screen, if I was streaming from my PC more I'd probably go for the Legion for the higher res screen. I just rarely see the need as the Z1 Extreme is enough to run pretty much anything well.

I’d just go with a case like your last photo plus a screen protector unless you want the grip feel of those others. I don’t think they’d provide much at all for shock- and the unit just feels better by itself. I keep mine naked and store it in a case. I’m very careful with it and don’t use it anywhere but my room as well- so it has a low risk lifestyle.

I cover all of my controllers with skins of some sort. I have hyperhidrosis ... and my hands are sweaty, basically 24/7. I ruin nice things, all the time.

Yes, a heavily modified version of Android 13 I think.

Finished the last 20ish minutes of Rebirth demo on the Portal, and yeah, I'm still pretty impressed with it.

While remote play well works very well on my PC, it definitely plays better on the Portal, at least it feels like it.

I love the portal, and while I love the steam deck it just does not feel as good as the portal, So I don't think I would like the remote play app... plus I don't really care in giving up my haptics. I said this before but I think Sony found a form factor for portables that perfect. I want others to steal it! I would love a portable PC style handheld like the portal.

Anyone using or have used the rg405v? If so, thoughts? It’s on my radar at the moment. I like vertical form factor.

sold my portal for $250. The performance was just too inconsistant for me. I have a large projector screen and a 4K projector anyway, so it's not like I'm downgrading.

I would love to get a portal, but the main reason for it would be to play at hotels as I travel often. The fact that it can’t do that is still kind of dumbfounding

Hotel wifi can be tricky and if it requires you to go to w website to authenticate like a lot of public wifi you are out of luck. if you have a good data plan I suppose that is a work around. American Data plans seem to be much more generous then up here.

It can turn it on if the correct settings are in place on your ps5. Currently mine will only wake it from sleep- I haven’t tried to power it on yet. I have had some hiccups when the ps5 updates or restarts when my portal will not let me connect. Probably the settings are my issue.
