Meanwhile Rockstar has made 1 new game since 2013 Red Dead Redemption 2 and we still have no release date for GTA 6. AFAIK no other studio for any company can come close to this many games during the HD era even though I realize a few are remasters still not even close and here are in the PS5 era and they're still churning out games left and right Like a Dragon Gaiden comes out in a few days and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth in January just two months from now. And most games are not 10 hour games either like most of the Yakuza games and Judgment to get 100% completion with all the side quests might take you close to 100 hours. You could easily spend 100 hours on Yakuza Like a Dragon also and I'm guessing Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth when it comes out will be that long.

So my question is are they human or are they robots? Maybe they are AI.

I mean, there's more than a few remakes/remasters/re-releases in there. Not to mention the 'Like a Dragon' series has been using more or less the same assets since the first HD games. They also said 'Gaiden' began as a DLC, it's digital only in the West and $40, so I don't anticipate it being very long. Plus, most of the hours are spent are on side activities and not the main story. I blazed through the story of 'Yakuza 6' earlier this year, sticking to the main story mostly, in around 10 hours. Rockstar makes games from scratch, and they are huge open worlds, and their stories are much, much longer versus the much smaller scopes of RGG's games.

The new head of RGG made an interesting comment recently, though, where they feel they have to release so many games so quickly to keep up with the zeitgeist essentially, or they'll miss out. I believe him for what he's saying, but I don't think he's correct; I think they think they'd lose relevance without so many releases, but I don't think that would happen if they slowed down.

That said, people have been complaining there are too many 'Like A Dragon' games (including the two 'Judgement' games in there) coming out that some can't keep up. Again, many of those were the first two game remakes and the 3-5 remasters, so it's not like new games have been coming out that much ('Ishin' is a port and a PS4 game natively, so that's mainly translation and some updates to the Unreal engine), but I understand that feeling coming to the series fresh without having played since the PS2 days.

They developed the Call of Duty development model. :)

I will say that having three games release in a 12 month span is a bit overkill. They could've spread out the 'Ishin!,' 'Gaiden' and 'Infinite Wealth' releases. Though with the studio head saying what he said, I wonder how much of it is SEGA, and how much of it is RGG.

I think something to look at is if the games are good. Are they? Because if the majority are good, then that's what's impressive. It's one thing to release a bunch of games, but it's another thing to release a bunch of games that are also good.

Yep just about every game is good IMO, beaten at least the main story to all of them except Ishin which I'm working on right now, the Super Monkey Ball games and the Android game. An overlooked one is the First of the North Star game although it just is another Yakuza with a FOTNS coat of paint over it, still enjoyed it.

I think the last one was probably going to be some sort of DLC, but they extended it into some sort of pseudogame. Not to diminish it or anything, but it sounds like it was, compared to other entries, pretty shallow in depth.

They've got the shell, which is the hard part, and they're very good at writing out quirky and interesting sidestories, which is what they need to fill out the experience. The storylines are super solid but it's the extra missions that really pad things out proper. I've never played through a Yakuza game and been like "Man. That was lame!" They're really fun and engaging and the core storylines are super entertaining, and I'm genuinely interested in what happens next. I've finished Zero, Kiwami and Ishin, all fantastic, never hit a point in those where I was like "K, I get it, bored"
