So you guys have some sort of trick to lowering costs? I just spent $7.50 to ship one Switch game, which leaves me wondering, is it even worth it to trade things with low to medium value?

I am not overly upset or anything, but it does leave me wondering how some of you do it. I see some people selling stuff for under $10 shipped on here, and I assume those sellers would rather ship multiple items together when prices are that low, but what is the secret to cheaper shipping on less expensive trades.

Cheers!

There's a great site called Pirateship. You can pay for and print shipping labels from there. The cost will be less than you'll pay in person at the post office.

How did it cost $7.50? Was it heavy, like a collector's edition? Was it going to the furthest U.S. state from you? 7.50 does seem like alot for something that weighs around 3-4 ounces.

Not heavy at all. Just a standard Switch game. From Maine to California, so it was pretty far.

I will need to check out that site. Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. I actually learned about that site from someone here on GTZ. I've been using Pirateship since then, and it's been great.

And the site even has pirate humor, so that's a bonus :)

Pirate Ship is great. I use it, as does my wife whom runs 2 Direct Sales companies - all you need is a printer, a scale for ounces, tape and a ruler really. Measure/weigh your item, select your pick-up date (so mail carrier knows to expect it - though I doubt they care), purchase, print, tape up the package and put it out for pickup the next day (or day you selected). I believe you could also drop into a blue mailbox or give to a mailroom or mail carrier directly if you lived in a more populated area and were worried about theft from your mailbox/slot. You can buy insurance as well if you were sending a more expensive item/game.

I've never used pirate ship, probably should but its much easier for me personally to just pay cash over digitalize the ship cost. thats why im really never opposed to somebody providing shipping on a sale to save themselves the extra difference on it.

You went to the post office to ship, right? I don't know how you got to that price unless you added insurance or your PO is in the middle of nowhere. Or you sent Priority Mail?

PirateShip is great and I learned about that here. First Class for a single game (any system) is about $4-ish on PirateShip and includes delivery confirmation. CA to Maine might be $5-ish but it's all in the same ballpark.

@HEHEHATE I used pirate ship for what I just sent you. It saved me around $20. I love that it compares carriers and lets you know the best option.

The post offices have been instructed to PUSH Priority Mail, however I've seen East Coast to West Coast First Class using the discounted shipping online be around $6ish.
First Class is now using regional zones plus weight, instead of a flat rate depending on weight.

Would you all recommend using Pirateship over creating labels through the PayPal's Shipstation?

I prefer Paypal Shipstation over Pirateship unless you're shipping internationally. If you're shipping internationally, use Pirateship.

Thanks for the tips everyone. To answer a previous questions, I just want regular first-class, not priority. They did give me tracking but no insurance. To be fair, $2 covered the mailer, which I should consider buying elsewhere.

Ah, there's the extra cost. I'd buy some mailers in bulk. I found these on Amazon, and they work great for game-sized shipping: https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...

I also use PayPal's Shipstation. Highly recommended!

For mailers, my wife buys in bulk for her businesses so I use them. You can also hang onto Amazon mailers if you open them carefully, I've reused them and even cut them down smaller and taped shut. Just tear off the mailer sticker to your address or use a sharpie, or simply tape the new label from pirateShip right over top.
