9-Sep-2023(#1)A resent post got me thinking… how old is this community? Are we a bunch of oldies or are there some much younger users among us? I’m 47 been active on GTZ since 2009 (former TGN user). What say you?

9-Sep-2023(#3)MegaNESMan is probably the oldest active user. I know I've seen him post recently.

I bet. 40 was hard for me. 50 scares me.

* 10-Sep-2023(#10)It's cute that you all think 50 is old. I'm 68. The younger you are, the older I look.
The first computer system I bought was a 286 12 Ghz with a 20 Meg hard drive and VGA color graphics. $2,000 in about 1990 dollars - so there weren't too many people that had home computers. I used it for Word Perfect, Quattro Four, and started a few years of adventure games. My daughter and I worked our way through the King's Quest series and most of the Space Quest series while I did a few others like the Star Trek 25th Anniversary game and the first Myst. I collected almost every Star Wars game, but never played them.
I was ripped off on my first Game TZ trade. I made an agreement with another user who didn't have any trades. I sent him Buzz Aldrin's Race to Space, and he disappeared from the site.

(frozen)10-Sep-2023(#12)Damn, 68 gotta be the upper tier. I doubt many others around that here.
A lot in their 40s or 50s.

No telling what the future may hold - but I really hope it doesn't involve something crappy.

The way crap is going nowadays, I'd be stoked to reach 70. I made the 40's, hoping I can survive my kids to college (60's).

Yeah...I already don't plan on it. Just want it to the point that it's fun. My neighbor has retired 3 times now and I can tell he's had enough when he sits outside and is moping like crazy. Then within a month: he's going to take on another job, but 'just part time'. And then he takes on more and more and gets burned out.

People used to complain about 30 being old. My 30s were the best years of my life. At 40 I started feeling it. On my 50th birthday it took me days to even wrap my brain around it. Lol it never stops being weird. You just get used to it.

11-Sep-2023(#38)We are just older kids with the ability to buy our own games and systems and not have to wait for birthdays and Xmas! Lol
Tony
12-Sep-2023(#39)Once you pass 21, birthdays don't come with any exterior acknowledgement until you reach the milestones for senior perks at restaurants (and other establishments) and the option to take Social Security payments. Otherwise, you are just one day older than you were yesterday. One day a year everyone congratulates you for surviving this long, and the next day they don't really care.

12-Sep-2023(#41)So far, if I caught everything…
68 = oldest
29 = youngest
That’s quite the age gap. I don’t know if I’m surprised the youngest is 29. It is very telling when pondering site longevity.
For those over 40, have your gaming habits changed? I don’t mean less time to commit, more so the games you like to play? I use to play alot of MW2 with my son online “back in the day”. I don’t even attempt any competitive online game these days. I mostly play on easy and prefer a slower paced adventure game or platformer. I’m about 4hrs into starfield and I’m not wowed. Newer games with all the bells and whistles really doesn’t do anything for me anymore.
