Word on that DK ‘94 absence. Seems like that one should have been a no brainer for when the app launched and yay for Super Mario Land 1! That was one of my first Game Boy games.

Not sure if this is widespread but it looks like Walmart will only sell Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door in-stores (seemingly a Nintendo directive). Online orders are getting cancelled and looks like they are offering $25 off a future order as an apology.

Yeah, that was Japan only. The main character actually has a cameo in Link's Awakening. Despite not knowing any Japanese, I've made some decent progress in the game. Would definitely be cool if it got a remake in English.

Omg. I've never played Portal 2, bought it on Switch awhile ago, just booting it up now. The fudging load times are insane! No exaggerating they are worse than PS1. Wtf gives?

Edit: initial load screen has to be close to 5 minutes. Each area is damn near 1 minute. Play 1-3 minutes, 1 minute load screen. Rinse and repeat. Don't know if I'm going to be able to play this.

Another 4:15 just to get to THE MAIN MENU (static load screen the whole time)! Over 5 minutes to load the main menu!

Another 33 seconds to get to the resume campaign load menu, and another 30+ seconds to load. It's well over 6 minutes of wait time from the time you boot the game to when you actually start playing. Even Playstation 1 games weren't that bad.

Each stage beat is around 1 minute of wait time while it generates the load screen then loads the next stage.

This can't be right, but I've seen multiple posts online saying load times were nuts on other platforms. Yet I've seen reviews saying the game plays flawlessly on Switch. I wouldn't call this flawless.

I've just spent an hour or so with a racing game called Mantis Burn Racing. Holy crap, talk about a hidden gem! This arrived today for me all the way from Japan (it didn't get a physical release here in the states). The case was completely in Japanese, save for the actual title of the game. Fortunately, the entire game is in English, which I am very grateful for, yet very confused by. Anyway, if you are even remotely a fan of racing games, I urge to to give this one a go. It's about $20 on the e-shop, but I got mine for about $25 after taxes. I'm very happy with this purchase. I love the classic Super Sprint style of controls and the way that you level up your vehicle. Actually, it's more like Micro Machines when I think about it, but that's a good thing. It looks like there's a lot more for me to unlock. As much as I can tell, there are three goals that you may try to achieve in order to earn the game currency in order to upgrade different vehicles. My only complaints are the longer than I would like load times and the stupid messages at the bottom of the screen about their Discord or whatever garbage it says. Outside of that, I'm lovin' this game.

Beat Shedders Revenge the other day, picked up the Cowabunga Collection to revisit the classic but also play Hyperstone Heist. I didnt realize how much SR took from the originals. Made me just want to replay SR and pass on the collection as I like all the upgrades (life improvements to SR)

Went ahead and started Double Dragon Gaiden and I didnt know it had Hades elements. The Load times are the worst I have ever seen on a modern console. Almost quit, with the idea to pick it up on PS5 but I tried again, adjusted the setting used a different pair of characters and been keeping the money. One level to go. Changed the order too. Am enjoying it. If I knew about the load times I would have picked it up on PS5 or even cheaper digital. I do enjoy playing the switch portable now I have the OLED.

Beat Double Dragon Gaiden, made the right choice Freedom! Glad I played it. If it wasnt portable, the load times make this the version to avoid, But for me I liked it in hand held.

Mario Kart 8 officially turns 10 years old today... We've not gone this long without a new entry in the series before (no, I'm not counting the mobile game or that one with the RC cars)

Started Hades for the first time despite owning it for over a year. Really enjoying it so far. Lots of dying but so far death feels like opportunity rather than a setback. Great game design for a rogue-like game.

So it seems Nintendo is going to announce the date/time of the direct the week it occurs again. I wonder what they have planned for the holiday release? I think it'd be a mistake to not save any new mainline Mario for Switch 2. Maybe Metroid Prime 4 comes out of vaporware. Could be a fitting final big title for the Switch, though they already announced Pokemon Legends Z-A for 2025. Probably see more on that. I'm hoping for some new third party surprises, like SotN/Rondo coming to Switch. Perfect Dark coming to N64 Online. Continued collaboration among the big 3. I'm guessing any major established franchises that haven't made the jump yet will wait for Switch 2.

Man, I thought Portal 2 was the perfect sequel by not only doing everything the first Portal did, but it did it better. But then again I feel the same way about WWF No Mercy and Perfect Dark, yet there are some people who prefer WWF WrestleMania 2000 and GoldenEye 007 over them.

ya I feel that actually.

Revenge was solid due to the roster. We would revisit it often, but I'm one of THOSE PEOPLE that think Wrestlemania 2000 was the peak. I also am in camp Goldeneye is better, but that's solely because I don't like sci-fi more often than not and 007 was mostly based in a past albeit fictitious era with only a few sci-fi elements thrown in. Both No Mercy and Perfect Dark were great though. The bots in PD multiplayer were a phenomenal achievement for its time.

No Mercy has a fan mod that adds a whole bunch of WWF wrestlers with intro music, Ross and the body commentary and everything. Not sure if Revenge has one or not. I eventually plan to play this.

The only one I'm looking forward to is Luigi's Mansion 2, but I'm not in a hurry and don't need it on day one. The main friends I used to play the online co-op mode with on 3DS don't really play Switch anymore.

I think I’d like to play that Monkey Ball game. Always been interested in that series.
