Quake on Apple Watch, amazing...

The thousands of hours I spent on Quake growing up when online gaming (heat.net and GameSpy) was taking off. One of my all time favorites, especially after rocket arena came out. Took me like 4 days to download RA through... Man, what was it, where you could pause and resume downloads over the dial up days?

I remember looking to enable 2FA a while back. If I remember correctly, Valve has its own separate thing and doesn't use the same 2FA app that all my other accounts are linked to? Currently I have it set to e-mail me a code if I log in from an unknown device.

I just saw the 4080's priced at $900. Nooooope. This gen is asinine. Just get a 3070, 3080 or 3090 when the 70% of the cards that never hit market hit market. You do not need faster DLSS, you don't even really need raytracing. Nvidia sales are gonna fudging dunk this generation, absolutely. Technically nearly two years into the 3XXX generation, we're just NOW getting a "launch" with available stock and falling prices, I don't think anyone but content creators have any real thirst for the 4XXX line at all. I certainly don't. This is so wasteful and unnecessary and tone deaf.

And as I utter the words "tone deaf" they move onto the Web3 portion of the presentation. I'm done lol, there's a reason they blocked comments.

Unless you want to play Microsoft Flight Simulator at 8k ultra settings, then you definitely need to pick up the 4090

I'm more interested in how the eventual 4060 compares to the 3060/3060 ti. The top end cards are super niche that will sell no matter what.

Most of the cards haven't even hit the aftermarket yet. There's like, infinite 3XXX cards available. Like, prior to 2018 crypto bust, there was a lot of product. This time around, there's a LOT OF FUDGING PRODUCT.

Huh... Just realized I have 200k steam points. Got excited that I could cash out for games or something... Nope, stickers and gifs, lame.

You can also use that to leave awards to people in the Steam forums and reviews. That's basically all I use them for.

Damn, that sucks. I never looked into the Steam points thing but I also assumed that eventually I could use them to buy games, kinda like earning gold coins in the eShop.

What the hell? I lost all of my Steam Library Categories ... it's now all split up by year, and then month for the past year.

That actually makes a lot more sense than a $2200 4090. Lots of these cards are very dense and, in Gigabyte cards particuarly, the offset weight can put undesireable stress on the weaker points of the PCB, like the joint between the slot lock and the BUS that goes into the mainboard when it's plugged in; sometimes the GPU sag is so bad that it actually causes a crack in the PCB, which if you take it to Gigabyte for warranty repair, they'll be like "Well it's a cracked PCB, we didn't crack it therefore it's out of warranty and not our issue". These brackets help stabilize these terribly designed videocards so they're not tilting so precariously in the case.

Not that they need much to deny warranty work; I had ASUS quote me $905 to fix a 4070 with a display port stuck inside of it. When I declined and got it back I popped it out with tweezers. I'd be insulted, but I think I'll just be a non-Asus customer moving forward :p

Oh, derp, I thought it was for external display purposes... Not additional internal support, makes way more sense.

Picked up Helldivers 2 for PC, as I haven't had a good game to play on PC for awhile. I prefer mouse and keyboard but had to fall back to an Xbox controller because of the Stratagem codes. It just doesn't play well on keyboard for me. Either that, or I'm old and rusty (likely).

Fun game though. Not yet seeing the long term appeal as it feels pretty repetitive. Also have had too many friendly fire butt-holes.

Friendly fire butt-holes are half the fun of the game.
