Currently has a May 12 2023 release date. That's just over 4 months away. That's not so far, but there isn't that much known about it.

Here's a video that has the reveal trailer and other info that has so far been released.

https://youtu.be/30DPu43_Uko

Is it unusual for such an anticipated title that's only several months away to not have much known about it?

I don't usually follow games along their pre-release stages, so perhaps a lack of info is standard.

Personally, I'd rather a lack of info when it comes to games that I plan on playing. I don't care for spoilers, or to watch every trailer that comes out.

I'd have thought there'd be more out about it though. But again, I don't usually follow along with the progress of game development.

Definitely a game I'm looking forward to though.

You're right. I don't have very strong weapons currently. Strongest is a +26 sword, because it's fused with one of the wiggly. night skeleton parts. They pack a punch.

And you're also correct that I wasn't looking to Google where to find strong weapons/etc. I'm currently playing the game as is. No googling unless I really can't figure something out.

That Octorock trick in BotW was great. Is there logic behind it? Canon maybe?

I was NOT equipped for that battle. I didn't even try. I tried running away. But ice beam was super effective. 1 hit KO.

Frost Gleeok. Found it by accident while exploring.

Woah! Pretty sweet. Didn't expect this kind of item. The devs did some pretty cool stuff in this game. I bet I could make something awesome with this.

Just beat my first Gleeok on my way to finding Zelda’s horse. Big frosty boy. Followed the instructions suggested by @BloodPuppetX and made liberal use of keese eyeballs and arrows. I ran out of homing eyes, so by the final phase of the fight I needed to rely on my aim as I slowed down time falling through the air, using keese wings for maximum distance.

Pretty satisfying to take one of those guys down. Felt like a legitimate fantasy BATTLE, more than some of the true bosses even.

Story-wise, I’m right at the end. I think I only have the final showdown to complete, so I’m focusing entirely on side quests and exploration for now. I don’t want the game to be over.

I also built my “dream house” recently. Pretty neat, if not entirely necessary. Nice to have everything I need in one spot but tbh that’s also the case if I visit a town or stable, just without needing to pay for a bed. But even then, it’s free to sleep at Lookout Landing.

Since this style Zelda is apparently going to be the blueprint for 3D Zelda going forward, I’d honestly like them to add a few more “casual” elements to the gameplay. Along with more NPCs, NPC houses and towns, it’d be neat if there were some sort of “friend” mechanic, so Link could eventually host parties/gatherings at his house or receive invites to others. Maybe some perks/items are only unlocked by using this social mechanic. Wouldn’t mind a little easygoing, Animal Crossing style gameplay meshed in when you don’t feel like investing in an action packed quest on any given day.

Got some more time this weekend with it and got through the water temple. That was pretty fun and probably my favorite temple. That just leaves the sand temple. Many of the side quests feel repetitive, but at least some of them have some good rewards like armor pieces.

Had my first encounter with Shadow Ganon and was completely taken by surprise. I quickly died, but when I came back to life, I couldn't find him.

Found myself exploring Thunderhead Isles, I think before I’m supposed to since I could barely see anything. Stumbled upon a late game quest I imagine since it involved a sage and now I’m in the depths trying to finish said quest.

85 shrines down.

Okay so I’ve done a complete 180 on this game. Wasn’t digging it but now I’m hooked. I’m not a big puzzle guy so when I find a shrine I only solve it if I’m in a puzzling mood lol.

Any advice on how to find more armor sets? I got a quest to find three chest pieces for climbing, the barbarian one and shock resist, but then have no idea how to find the rest, is it just good to explore caves to find more?

Caves are the best place to look. With every cave having a bubble frog you need to explore pretty thoroughly. Some are hidden extremely well though. I said nuts to all that and looked them up. I don't think I'd have ever found the entire climbing set without doing so. Even looking it up it was still a pain to get.

Yeah may just look some things up eventually like I did with elden ring.

Also, just got the auto build after doing two of the main dungeons and getting most of the way towers and tears. What a game changer!!

This thing is still one shotting me with about 9 hearts. It's Silver, I think

If it's a silver one, I believe the damage is incredibly high. You would probably need a fully upgraded set of armor to survive a single hit or a ton of hearts and maybe a defense buff.

I wish they weren't quite so hidden. I feel like I'm going to be basically at the end game before I have most of the armor. It would be nice to have access to them for a more significant portion of the game.

After 200 hours, I finally decided to wrap up the story. Ganondorf's final form was ridiculously easy, but much cooler than Dark Beast Ganon from BotW. I found all the lightroots, 144 shrines and less than 300 korok seeds. I did all 60 side adventures, 103 (out of 139) side quests and 29 of 31 shrine quests. Looks like all 8 shrines I missed are in the sky, even though hero's path shows I've been to pretty much every sky island. I couldn't find any on the surface I missed while comparing it with the depths map. I'm going to move on to some other games now, but will come back to this later.

So will Zelda Tears of the Kingdom get DLC or will they make a Deluxe version for Switch 2 for Spring/Summer 2024?

Did the WiiU get the Expansion Pass for BOTW?

On the performance issues people talk about what yall seeing? I am now noticing weapons not loading etc guess I have more now etc, slowdown?

I would bet good $ on getting DLC, though I don't think it will hit Online+ anytime soon there after. Could be wrong.

There definitely are performance issues, but nothing big imo. I find it funny traversing Hebra and watching the flags run at nearly a frame per second, but Link moves well enough during it.

So.... Apparently I've put 70 hours into this and I honestly might drop it. Is it a good game? Yes. But it's also a complete disrespect of my time. You need to find 4 shrines in order to upgrade Hearts/Stamina. Everything is grindy since weapons break. Blood Moon refreshes every 168 in game minutes, which adds to the grind and disrespect of my time. I can admit this is a good game, just that most of the time is added so you're just wasting your time. Korok seeds? Grind/time killer with no guide. Shrines, time sink. The idiot with the post everywhere where you have to build crap to hold it up? Grindy. This whole game is just a grind/disrespect of your time. It's good, yeah but the whole is based around grind.

None of the things you mentioned you have to do though, but to each their own and all. Enemies in the wild that refresh with the blood moon are entirely avoidable and fighting them again would just be for optional materials. With all due respect I think you calling the game a grind fest is just completely inaccurate

The only things that I would consider grindy in this game are collecting the stuff to increase your battery, and collecting all of the materials for gear upgrades. Everything else, you just do what you want to do. I tend to mostly just explore areas I haven't been before (thank you Hero's Path) so the blood moon bringing enemies back doesn't affect me. Even if I do need to re-visit an area, it's easy enough to just run past enemies. I don't see how weapons breaking makes the game grindy? I've literally never had to grind for weapons. For me, it's more the opposite, my inventory is usually stacked with solid weapons and it's hard to decide what to get rid of when I get a new one. I literally have to make myself use my stronger weapons, or else I'll just keep using the weaker weapons over and over while the stronger ones just sit there forever (like most of my Breath of the Wild playthrough lol). Korok seeds and shrines are both completely optional, but I still don't see how they're grindy. I don't go out of my way grinding exploration trying to find them...I just explore areas I haven't been before and get any koroks or shrines that I come across. I don't know, maybe we have a different view of the word "grind".

Maybe I was being a bit dramatic calling it grindy, but this is pure grind. Especially the battery upgrades. Holy grind. Do you want max battery and get it legit? Grind.

But you in no way need max battery. You can go the whole game without ever upgrading it. In fact I played through half the story dungeons and unlocked all the sky view towers before I even upgraded my battery once. You get plenty of the materials you need to upgrade pretty naturally through the underground side story stuff as well

If you tried to 100%, I could certainly agree with our being grindy. But like the others said, you don't have to do any of that stuff. I'm trying to unlock all of the depth map. Honestly, that's a bit grindy. But to be fair, it's my choice. I don't have to do that at all if I don't want to.

Yeah, going for 100% is definitely grindy. I'd be pretty annoyed with how much it takes to upgrade the battery if I didn't have access to the duplication glitch.

It's not a waste of time if you're having fun. At the end of the day, ALL video games are a time waster. It's just a matter of how much time you're willing to sacrifice.

I'm about 105 hours into the game. I have all the sages and am being asked to take on Gannon... And yet my heart keeps telling me to explore and level up more. So that's my plan until I feel I "need" to finish it.

I was around this mark when I beat BOTW, and I'd like to extend some more life out of this one. raspberry

The only grind would be for rupees to buy and upgrade armor. I’ve never had to intentionally grind for anything other than that. I just go from one quest to another and I always seemed to have the materials I need.
