Currently has a May 12 2023 release date. That's just over 4 months away. That's not so far, but there isn't that much known about it.

Here's a video that has the reveal trailer and other info that has so far been released.

https://youtu.be/30DPu43_Uko

Is it unusual for such an anticipated title that's only several months away to not have much known about it?

I don't usually follow games along their pre-release stages, so perhaps a lack of info is standard.

Personally, I'd rather a lack of info when it comes to games that I plan on playing. I don't care for spoilers, or to watch every trailer that comes out.

I'd have thought there'd be more out about it though. But again, I don't usually follow along with the progress of game development.

Definitely a game I'm looking forward to though.

I'm at 98 hours and I finally got the Master Sword. I decided to hit up the depths under Hyrule castle for the first time. I think I need to go back and cook up some more dishes, definitely some gloom resistance.

It’s hard to get but the depths armor is so worth it and looks amazing

I decided to finally beat the game today. I have all armor, 152 shrines, only 119 lightroots (can't figure out which one I'm missing). I've done a ton of armor upgrading, but I won't be grinding for all of the missing materials. I might come back to this for fun in the future, but it's time to move on (185 hours is a record for me for a single player game unless you count my two full playthroughs of BotW. I loved BotW, although it definitely had its flaws. However, I can't imagine ever going back to it now. Imagine going back to all that climbing and running instead of all the countless ways we can get around in TotK. Those of you that know me over the years know that Ocarina of Time is my all-time favorite game. I think TotK might have taken over the top spot.

There's one lightroot that is a small circle in a deeper area. It's hard to see as since it's in a deeper area it's surrounded by dark blue map. It blends in really well.

I don't recall, but it was the last one I got. If you have all the shrines you can just bounce back and for between maps to find it.

With the important caveat that I haven't gotten around to playing Elden Ring yet, this is the best game I have played since Half-Life: Alyx. The two games have something very compelling in common: They are very flexible, and essentially everything that creatively should work does.

Like a lot of you it seems, I haven't had the heart to finish the main game. I just keep finding new stuff. The level of hand-crafted design and attention to detail is ridiculous for an open world game.

All shrines, all hearts and all memories. Finishing strong so far. Want to complete one last thing before end game. I still say I don't think I can replay this game like BotW, but it's been a journey.

Beat this last night. System says I spent 135 hours on it.

The final hour or so had 3 moments where I said some variation of "oh crap" out loud.

Potentially my favorite game of all time. The sense of discovery and exploration is second to none.

Went ahead and beat it. Better ending than BotW. Insane number of people worked on this game. One of the best Zelda games, but I'm not sure if I'd crown it king. Definitely most ambitious.

It's my favorite as of now. We'll see if recency bias applies after a while when I replay BOTW.

The ending was okay imo, but yeah, way better than BOTW's.

I've officially moved on from TOTK for now. All I have left of the main story is to take out Ganondorf, but I played the game to death and just can't play it anymore until I take an extended break. Happy to have the endgame to go back to when I get back in the mood though.

I moved on as well. I played the hell out of this. Hopefully there will be DLC to convince me to go back, but otherwise, I can't ever see going back to it. It's too big and overwhelming to start again.

I moved on after beating it, but I pop in from time to time to clear up some of the shrines I missed. I plan to gradually complete all the remaining ones I have left, but there's too much else to do/play right now.

What is the reason this isn’t fully voiced? I would have loved it if all the side quests and even the main quest line was fully voiced. That’s my one gripe with an other wise amazing game

The weird noises and groans that the NPCs make can be annoying. My wife and kids mimic the noises and make fun of the game. I honestly don't care about the lack of voice acting throughout the majority of the game. I tend to skip through acted dialogues in most games, which tends to be really annoying as their sentences are constantly being cut short.

Got all the armor in the game. Went to upgrade it all and Holy hell what a grind. Even with the duping glitch it's going to take awhile. No way I'd even consider it without the glitch. It requires tens of thousands in rupees, and dozens of many rarer items. I duped everything I have up to 30 each, gems over 60 and it was no where near enough. Still missing 1 bug and 3 enemy parts to be able to upgrade everything. I know it's not required, and I didn't do it with BotW, but TotK feels like it will be better to mess around sandbox wise after the fact unlike BotW which I was more motivated to start a new game.

Aonuma claims this is because if the character were to say something that the player does not agree with, the relationship between the user and Link would be lost.

As for other NPC's it's likely a balance of only having key story being voice acted and the rest defaulting back to the mainstay of the series (no real voice acting). Other reasons I'm sure Nintendo would never admit is it cuts down on the size of the game and is cheaper as you don't need to hire 8 sets of voice actors. Plus you don't hear as many complaints if a particular regions voice actor is not great. Ahem Zelda ahem. I like the balance personally as I can skip the bulk of dialogue without feeling like I missed anything.

I get link not having voiced dialogue it’s more a complaint with the rest of the characters throughout. I like it voiced with the option to skip lines when you want. It probably comes down to it not being worth it in their mind, I mean the game is still awesome

I agree with KCPenguins, cost and user sentiment are probably the key factors. Personally, text dialog is so much better when dealing with NPCs that don't impact the storyline. I'll read much faster than a voice actor will speak those lines. In many games I put captions on just so I can get through dialog faster.

TotK is definitely WAY more of a grind than BotW was, and BotW was already quite a grind, depending on what all you were going for. I definitely plan to max out all of the armor again, but I still have access to the duping glitch, so it won't be an issue for me.

Yah I don't mind Zelda's voice either. Imo she makes the game feel more epic whenever she speaks. Has that old-timey "epic fantasy" vibe.

I completed the max all armor using duping and it still took HOURS. I can't imagine doing it legit, and never would have even considered it without duping. Now all that's left is to max my battery, update the game, and then I'm taking a break until the inevitable DLC.

I don't care either way on Zelda (could be better, could be worse, but I've seen a good amount of people complain. Frankly I found Yanubo's voice as the biggest miscast but I got used to it.

You really spent ~$800 on a "luxery" that was obviously not a buy it now or someone else takes it home (payments) while making said payments without consulting the better half? Oof, you really are a big dumb animal.

haha, thankfully ... as dumb as I am, I'm ... kinda smart, sometimes (but not really). Honestly just lucky/grateful that we both have really high paying jobs that we busted our asses for, especially growing up under the poverty line.

We invest ~45% of our combined salaries into retirement/stocks/kids 529s/and have a ton of life insurance. We have a pretty solid portfolio for our age. Should be better, but I think we're in a good spot overall. The rate we're going, retirement shouldn't be an issue (hopefully!).

STILL ... my wife is probably gonna murder me when this Link statue shows up on the desk, next to the Samus helmet and Lilith statue (both new in the last year) that just "magically showed up" ... "these old things!? pssshhh, they were in the basement, in boxes, I'm just rotating them in" --- this has worked a few times smile.
