Won a “Best letter to Santa” contest as a 6 year old kid and I didn’t even enter it myself, my teacher entered me. I said that Santa should leave my house until last so he could stop off at my house for a lay z boy chair, cheese burger, and glass of iced tea and a nap. They read my letter on the news and my entire family almost passed out because no one knew I was entered to win. I won $500, a trip to the news station, and a gift bag full of toys and games.

Other things include winning a few raffles for hats, a stuffed animal, etc.

Thanks again to my Santa @gameremporium I recognized the address from previous trades instantly. Never played Vesperia or Dragon Quarter. I've been looking to try out Dragon Quarter for a bit. i heard its got quest 64 vibes with tedious random encounters. Huge fan of both Dark Cloud and Chrono Cross. I actually am in the minority who prefer cross over trigger. Was really surprised overall by the generosity on these as i feel its all about the give and the though into someones request.

Mine was a black label complete ps1/ps2 rpg not in my collection. The mark was hit and then some Thank you.

I just happened to pack mine up right before I got this. I know my santas really gonna love the stuff i threw in there for them. will have mine out by monday the latest. hopefully tomorrow though if i don't sleep in the morning

I literally lit up when I saw Donkey Kong II. I've always wanted to own a physical unit, ever since playing the port in Game & Watch Gallery 3 all the way back in the early 00s.

Kirby I'm also really excited to play. I really enjoyed the prior 3DS Kirby game, and I've been told this one is way better. Can't wait to dive into this sometime after I finish what feels like my second life Tears of The Kingdom.

Santa, thank you so so much! This will definitely be front and center in the collection for a while grin

Ehhh, I mean I'm only in the T20x dungeons, but crap can get nuts with the nm dungeon random rolls. So many random explosions ... I rarely die, but when I do, it's the crazy add-ons that the dungeons add.

I can't imagine taking a Sorc to 100 on HC, that's just insane. They're too squishy to survive some of that insanity vs. other classes.

I still haven’t finished the campaign.

Hardcore Sorc at 50. Santa the rogue HC died at 30 or so. (Boss of first act- never saw him on screen and did not get behind the barrier- first ever encounter…) I plan to finish campaign and possibly go for 100- sorc just feels so in control at all times- with the pot, fire shield rez and escape scrolls I see very little risk of death with careful play.

Was planning to main a rogue but it is a bit complex for a first run through. Continued with my Druid. Figured it out. Pretty much unstoppable. The butcher made the mistake of walking up on me. Smashed him. Druid has the mount and all zones open and I’m at the part where you pick swamp or something else in the ugly zone.

Normal mode does not feel nearly as fun or intense as HC- for good reason. My HC toon I used all the mechanics and merchants to stay UTD. I have not upgraded anything or used a single gem on my 45 Druid.

RIP Santa. First hardcore toon to die. I’d recommend play through the whole game first or look up boss tactics before you try this mode. It was probably not a good idea to run it blind. I was running two toons concurrently in case of a surprise to prevent too many spoilers from guides- and turns out it was a good idea. The game is very easy except for a few surprise mechanics- and you can get to 50 at least without messing in dungeons or advancing the story too much. So you can avoid the surprises and that random dungeon guy.

I also did not use any build guides etc. pretty intuitive what the builds should be if you read the passives carefully.

Yet another High Roller Summer edition! This is still technically an unofficial gift exchange, so please keep that in mind!

Any subscriber without a current BTR that has earned a Gold Star (Gold Star) is eligible to sign up

The quick version of how to participate:
check Post here in the thread that you would like to participate!
check Send me a PM titled "High Roller Summer Secret Santa 2023 – Registration"
check The context of the PM must include both your address and want list. new
check This modification to the rules is to ensure everyone who signs up is ready to be partnered up, and to prevent any further delays. new
check After you ship your gift, go back to the same PM titled "High Roller Summer Secret Santa 2023 " and provide any needed tracking information.
check After you receive your gift, go back to the PM "High Roller Summer Secret Santa 2023" and let me know that you received. Make sure to thank your Santa in this topic!

The details:
Signups are open now and will continue until Thursday, June 22nd. Partners will then be assigned and PM'd out within the following couple of days. Gifts must be received by Saturday, July 22nd

The target gift value for this exchange is $50 US. Gifts MUST be worth a minimum of $50 USD not including shipping costs. Every effort should be made to send a complete item. If you are sending something used, it should be complete and in at least "very good" condition. This is not a way to unload your unwanted crap. That said if the recipient is okay with cartridge/disc only, so be it!

Unfortunately, because it is too difficult to manage, I will not be allowing international users. If we develop a better management system in the future, I’d love to include everybody!

Tips/Additional Rules:
check Look at your partner's wants and check his/her lists and posts. Put the same effort into selecting a gift for your partner that you would want someone else to put into yours.
check If your partner has inadequate "wants", don't give up! Try to figure it out.
check Make sure you provide adequate "wants" for your Santa. There should be at least 4-5 things on your list that fit in the target price/value range.
check When you get assigned a partner, start figuring out what you are going to get them! Immediately. Don't wait until the last minute!
check In most cases, the person that you are assigned to is NOT the same person that is assigned to you. In other words, you aren't just making a 1-to-1 exchange with someone. You're buying a gift for someone that, most likely, is buying a gift for someone else entirely.
check After you've received your gift, post in this thread thanking your Santa for what you received -- just so they know you appreciate whatever it was! (Or, if you've figured out who your Santa is somehow, you can just thank them privately if you'd rather.) Don't leave your Santa hanging without acknowledging their gift!
check Problematic users will NOT be allowed to participate. Please keep this a drama-free gift exchange raspberry
check Keep in touch throughout. Communication is key!

Some people suck. Despite our best efforts, people might still get stiffed. If you don't intend to follow through on your commitment here, please do not sign up.

I just spent a lot of this month playing Dead Island 2 and I'm not quite done with it, but I'm wanting to try to do some make ups at some point, unless next month is on my list, lol.

Here is a list with the pricecharting value as of this morning, because with 200ish items (many of which are very much low end) I'm not going to individually research each one, carefully comparing trends and recent ebay sold listings. In cases where that is lower than the actual value, I will honor the price if you don't want to haggle and just send an offer. If it's too high for you (which it should be, you should try to pay at least 15% lower than pricecharting for this stuff, otherwise just go to ebay), then send me a lower offer.

Haggling is the purpose of this thread, so if you are going to do it, do it right.

Questions like "How low can you go on X game?" are not in the spirit of haggling. My answer to that is "These prices are the lowest i could possibly go, i have a family to feed, you know?" Even though that is a complete lie. I may even quote higher for you for not knowing how to haggle properly. A sucker is born every minute right?

If you want a lower price, start with a number. Something like "Would you do $X shipped for this game?" is way better.

Prices do not include shipping by default, but they might if you ask nicely.

There are a few oddball imports that don't have pricecharting values. I've left those blank because I think there would be zero interest in them. But if you DO want them I will add a price.

Note: Pop'n Tanks is higher than price charting because l also have the official art book.

Also, some items are Greatest Hits, Player's Choice, etc. If that matters to you, I offer my condolences if you forget to ask before buying.

My condolences as well if you don't like the concept if this sale, or the tone. It's intended to be a little self-deprecating after that GTZ Entitlement thread. You can click here if you don't think it's funny: http://www.ebay.com

No More Heroes III Microsoft Xbox Series X|S

I quite enjoyed the first two 'No More Heroes' on the Wii, and despite not playing either since near their respective releases, I still picked both up on Switch. I was looking forward to the third game especially after all the praise, but the technical shortcomings had me wait for a release on more powerful hardware. I used some Gamestop gift cards to get NMHIII at launch, but hadn't gotten around to it until now. After beating it, I have one question for all the reviews that praised this game: did you play a different game than I did?

Let's start with those technical details. The game runs well, a locked 60fps from what I can tell, and looks super sharp. That's not hard given the simple geometry, small world, and origins on Switch, but it's still nice to see. That said, whenever a scene or even camera position changes, the textures still take a second to form. It's distracting and confusing on hardware like the Series X. Character design is diverse for enemies, but in the open world there are literally two character models; a male and a female. That's it. For all the style this game oozes, it's incredibly bland at the same time.

Speaking of the open world, that's a generous description. There are five sections of the world connecting through loading screen via a tunnel you don't traverse, but aside from those few NPCs and couple of cars that wonder around, it's completely empty. Santa Destroy and Perfect World are at least pleasant to be in, but the others, especially the battle torn areas, are a chore. There are dead ends and invisible walls everywhere. Sometimes Travis can't even walk up a curb without jumping. The only thing to do in any of these areas is the occasional odd job for money (which are simple and boring) and the battle nodes that come in two flavors: waves of enemies and designated battles necessary to progress. When activating a node, you're transported to one of the few separate arena spots to fight. Nothing takes place in the world itself. Everything goes to a separate spot, even the odd jobs. On the overworld map, there are giant swatches of red that can't be access, but those never open up either. It's just inaccessible land to taunt you. I know the first game did this to a degree, but it was the Wii. It was understandable given the hardware and time of release. This isn't an excuse even for the Switch that has many bustling open world games. They should've either committed fully to the open world, or stuck to level progression like the second game. But this in between compromise just makes the game feel disjointed and incomplete.

Moving on to the story, admittedly never the most important thing in a NMH game, a little alien crash lands on earth and is saved by a boy who hides him from the authorities and nurses him back to health. The little alien leaves having formed a bond with the boy, and comes back as an adult to take over earth with the now grown man. It's an interesting setup, told through animated still (one of the many competing styles on display in this game), but goes nowhere beyond simple world domination. In stark contrast to something like 'Fire Emblem: Engage,' the voice work carries the whole story. Good thing too, because the ending twist is no surprise and the ending as a whole is pretty whatever. The voice actors do a very good job, but most characters only pop up in the very beginning and very end, which sucks for anyone hoping for more interaction.

Ok, so the world, story and characters are mostly a bust. How's the gameplay? It's good. Well, fine. It can be good. Travis can increase his stats in the lab below his apartment in the motel (something they don't tell you and took me half the game before I ventured down there), and there's a simple combo system in that it tracks your continuous hits, but not many actual combo moves. The gameplay definitely loses something without the motion of the Wiimote (or Switch Joycons, but those aren't as fun as the Wiimote and nunchuk). Your death glove, which still resembles the red and blue Joycon, has special cooldown abilities. After every major fight you get material to craft new chips to permanently augment your play. Most are a give and take with a gain and loss, but some are useful. This game suffers the same issues 'Bayonetta' does in that there can be so much on screen at once, like the slots graphic that literally takes up two-thirds of your viewable area, that it can be hard to see enemy attacks coming in order to dodge. It's not as big a problem as 'Bayonetta,' because there's never more than 5 enemies in an arena at a time and there's stuff like boxes to move behind, but with the camera closer to Travis it can be just as detrimental. Also, the same enemy attacks can deal different amounts of damage it seems. Sometimes the same attack will just knock me back, taking a small amount of health, and other times the same exact attack from the same enemy can one-shot me. Also, it takes waaaaay too long to get back to your feet if knocked down. And there's no invincibility frames, so you can get beat to death with no chance of getting up. Each enemy has their own types of attacks, but each only has a couple. Nothing really evolves during the course of the game, and that goes for the bosses too. The devs try, sometimes to great effect, sometimes to eyerolls, to mix things up with bosses, but standard boss battles are pretty simple. The only thing tricky might be the short amount of time any given boss is open to attacks.

So the world, story, characters and gameplay is mostly a bust. The odd jobs are boring and the few collectibles don't reward anything outside of currency for fights, food (of which I only used the one to refill health in battle) and for upgrades. There's a lot of t-shirts to collect through certain in-game achievements by way of friendly aliens, but you can only see what those are by going to a said specific alien for him to tell you only when it's possible to achieve them. There's no additional jackets (outside of no jacket) and unlike prior games, there's no change to your beam katana. I'm sure this game was working on a smaller budget, but it doesn't feel like that budget was used in a smart way.

I had to struggle to finish this game (a pattern I've seen with recent Japanese developed releases I've played outside of 'Ishin!'), not because it wasn't necessarily good, again, it's fine, mostly, but because I found myself really bored. You do the designated battles, maybe an odd job to get enough currency, then a boss, repeat the whole game in the same few spots. I'm massively disappointed in 'No More Heroes III' to the point where I regret buying it. I don't know how a game that screams such style and artistic variety can be so boring at the same time. I don't know how a game that garnered 8s, 9s and almost perfect scores across the Switch and current-gen consoles can be so utterly...okay-ish. For anyone interested in this game, I'd only recommend it for die-hard NMH and Suda fans. And even then, I'd suggest renting or waiting for an even bigger sale (it's currently selling at retail for about half its launch price). The physical bonuses that come with the physical game are cool, but the game, in my opinion, is not.

It's exactly like Secret Santa except the object is to give a terrible game you think your person will hate.

Last year people thought the $15 pricecharting value was too high, so this year I am lowering it.

Your game must have a minimum value of $10 based on Price charting for a game in similar condition. (If it's on the cusp, take a screenshot for proof). That makes things interesting so that we don't just buy the cheapest craptiest game in the gamestop bargain bin. Note you don't necessarily have to pay $10, that just needs to be its pricecharting value. If you have a poop game already that fits the bill, by all means feel free to use it

You can send multiple games if you want, but at least one of them must individually meet that $10 threshold. (So a $10 game plus a $2 bonus game is fine, but sending five $2 games by themselves is not).

Creativity in packaging or sending bonus items may be fun and hilarious, but is by no means required. If you do receive something creative, please take pics and share, it will be more fun for all of us.

Games should be mailed by Friday March 24 (first class or priority) to ensure timely delivery. You can PM me the tracking number once you have sent and I will forward it to your recipient. It is recommended (but not required) that you not open your game until April 1 to enhance the surprise.

Then on April 1 (a Saturday!) we all play them and moan about how bad they are and laugh and commiserate together.

Post here if you are genuinely interested, and I'll add you to the list. If we get at least ten people, then we'll do it!

At that point I'll send a survey out to everyone to get addresses, the systems they have available to play, and other helpful info. Then I'll randomize everyone's names to make sure everyone has a Satan assigned to them.

My goal ia to get the surveys and send everything back out by May 10. That should give everyone about two weeks to find the perfect worst game for your target and mail it. Remember, be evil but not predictable.
