General

So far, I've got tickets for:

-Furnace Fest- I love this festival. It was around 20-some years ago and then stopped. They revived it in 2021, and it was without exception the best concert experience of my life. I went again in 2022, and it was fantastic again, so I'm back for 2023. There are 90 bands in the line-up including MxPx, Relient K, Turnstile, Hopesfall (playing The Satellite Years), Knuckle Puck, Saosin, Braid, Anxious, Thursday, Zao, Pennywise, Haste the Day, Bouncing Souls, Armor for Sleep, As Cities Burn, Defeater, Further Seems Forever, and a bunch of other great bands. I also have a ticket for a pre-show the day before it starts with Symphony in Peril, Nothing Til Blood, Meadows, Idle Threat, and Stay Lost.

-The Circle Jerks, The Bronx, and diseasefreak (which I'm mostly going to to support the promoters (who recently brought down several bands I really like, including Thursday, The Appleseed Cast, Cursive, and Sparta).

-Nothing More, Crown the Empire, Thousand Below (This was a random impulse buy. I don't know much about these bands, although I'd heard of Crown the Empire. I'm going to be out of town for a conference and had that night free. Whenever I go to bigger cities for work, I try to catch a concert or two, since most bands don't come very close to where I live.)

Going to Vegas in May to see The (Dixie) Chicks. I can't wait. That's all so far...

Might be going to see High on Fire/Hoaxed/Green Water end of this month

Have tickets for The Black Dhalia Murder/Terror/Frozen Soul/Fuming Mouth in May and Dark Funeral/Cattle Decapitation/200 Stab Wounds/Blackbraid in June

Trying to decide between Vader/Krisiun/Decrepit Birth or Carcass/Municipal Waster/Sacred Reich/Creeping Death in April.

Went to Fleshgod Apocalypse/Obscura already.

Whitechapel/Archspire in April

Igorrr in September.

Not sure on anything else right now

I’ll be curious to get your take on Archspire. They recently played a show where they got people to play Twister in the pit during their set lol.

I just just kind of watch tours and see what's happening, I live usually anywhere from 1-6 hours from tours I want to see so it takes a lot of planning. I went to a bunch of concerts last year (Norah Jones, Beck, The Smile, Sigor Ros), but don't have any planned for this year yet, but I am thinking about going to see the Flaming Lips again. They were fun to see in the past.

I saw Kublai Khan last year. They were nuts. The lead singer started one song with “Turn each other into applesauce.” Lol.

Haha! Yeah. I'm a big fan of hardcore shows, but I don't go into every pit anymore.

Did some work at the Def Leppard / Motley Crue show in Atlantic City. Will do more at their shows in August.

On a side note, speaking mosh pits and such... It was a bit funny because the Exodus/BLS/Anthrax show -- which is normally an open floor and mosh pit gig -- was assigned seats. And the DL/MC show -- which is normally assigned seats -- was an open floor event! (No mosh pits occurred...)

I saw Anthrax back in like 1990 or so -- and then last month. Been a bit in between there...
