Slowly but surely getting a few mins here and there ... in chapter VIII. The Scythe is just wrecking everyone, it's a bit overpowered, especially with the charge attack from a distance.

I played more Lies of P. Genuinely don't get why people are acting like it's the best non From Software souls like. I don't think it's awful but I don't think it's great. Put in a little over 5 hours and I'm done. Mortal Shell and Thymesia are way better.

Well, I do know one reason I don't like it. It genuinely is trying to force a story.

Gameplay is still meh.... Perfect Guards are way too hard to do.

How long to beat says 25-50+ so I'm just gonna stop here and call it quits.

I summoned an NPC for a boss and killed it first try. Now in some sorta factory and it's just meh

The game was pretty heavily nerfed. Not sure why- but bosses are a bit easy with a summon now. The first 3 levels you are a bit too bare bones. It actually gets easier and way more fun as you earn the skills.

Thymesia I’d love more of. Wish that was longer.

29 hours, L76, half way into Chapter IX. The game is quite good. Kommie scared me away from it originally, not sure why you dislike it so much.

Lots of different mechanics that give a bit more to the genre. Story I am not following nor care about it. Combat is interesting and you have lots of options to vary it up. Difficulty is a bit low, especially with throwables. Fair amount of build diversity possible. Atompshere and sounds are really well done.

Overall, I'm happy with it. Question if I'll be done in time this week for Lords of Fallen. Probably the best game pass game I've played so far. Ended up buying a Deluxe copy for the collection.

It's not awful, but I just don't want to continue it. I cashed in some work rewards for a $50 gift card and pre ordered Lords of the Fallen at Best Buy. I like all the previews I've seen for that one.

So what am I missing with Lies of P? Game wants you to perfect guard but it needs to be perfect. Red Attacks also need to be perfect. All attacks are so random and janky. I'm still using the starting weapon too.

Did you roll str/dex? The starting dex weapon I rocked for quite a bit. Didn't switch until I got the boss Etiqutte weapon - and that didn't last long (probably wasn't even needed) as the Salamander dagger + acid handle is a beast early to mid'ish (and still relevant later for farming and certain mobs).

The weapon selection is surprisingly large once you get going. I ended up putting everything away except my primary two dex weps (scythe + twin dragons) and two elemental weapons (salamander dagger + baton).

I couldn’t use the twin dragons very well. Tried for a bit but the fable arts are awkward.

Agreed, the fable arts aren't the best, but they have their place. I tend to switch to Scythe to blow my fables.

36 hours (at least 5+ spent calming our new kid and putting the controller down) L89, think I'm right about at the end. Always a bitter sweet time in a game. Stoked I'll be done before Lords though!

Feeb, you did two full play throughs of this? Gdamn man, how do you have the time! Anything worthwhile on NG?

Yah respecs are pretty easy. Redid mine a couple times. I thought it was earlier than ch7, don't remember.

You can respec at the gold coin tree after Malum district / chapter V. Interact with the tree then leave the controller idle for about 5 seconds- a new menu pops up. Once this tree is open you can access it from the hotel anytime.

You can also use the statue in the locked room at the end of chapter VII. There is a stargazer in this room so you can warp anytime here after tagging it.

Yah I didn't understand what the second place was for when you can just use the tree?

Reviews for Lords of the Fallen seem to be all over the place.

I’m guessing it sucks. Hearing the shills talk it up on their videos and what they’re saying is not compelling at all. Not hyped about enemies buffing from “another realm” etc.

I'm still gonna get it, Lies of P honestly..... I don't like it.

I've only skimmed some reviews. Sounds like bugs, performance and camera are top gripes - all of which could be fixed, hopefully soon.

I debate if I should wait out a patch but I've been pretty excited to play this one.

It certainly looks nice. The first iteration was almost unplayable due to camera, targeting and just awful background noise etc.

I might wait off on actually opening it for a bit to see if performance is fixed. It's looking really bad on PS5

Was hoping there was a ps4 version. Always seems to run better on ps5 than the native version.

New LOTF is currently sitting at a 77 on metacritic I see. I wonder if there’s going to be a demo.

I did. I think we talked about it in here back around the time it came out. Its way better than the first. Still has issues. But I had fun with it. Enough to get 100%. Haven't gone back to it since though. But I will when the DLC drops.

Well that's fun my lords of the Fallen collector's edition that comes out tomorrow still hasn't shipped. So I guess I won't be playing it this weekend.

Seems like the Xbox version of LotF is delayed. I still can't tell how bad PS5 performance is as people either say it's fine or ass. But it seems that co op/invasions tank the FPS to a default 30.

Lies of P done. I am ashamed that I totally cheesed the last two bosses with throwables but I got lazy and was ready to be done.

Definitely had a good time playing. Would agree that it's probably the best soulslike that I've played.

Heard there's a dlc and a sequel already confirmed.

The ending is pretty cool. That would be a freaky game.

No clue why the remake of LOTF had to come out in a month where both Nintendo and Sony are going to release two of their heavy hitting titles for the start of this holiday season. For example, THQ had the right idea pushing back Alone in the Dark to January. They didn’t want any of what this holiday rush was going to ensue.

Good thing I have zero interest in open world Spooder Man and whatever Nintendo is selling!

Hey, look on the bright side- it could be another impossibly difficult game with gloomy gothic setting and monsters. A change is nice.

So Lords of the Fallen is actually pretty damn okay so far. Its like they just decided to make a Dark Souls 3 clone and asked to use the Lords of Fallen IP to do so. Menus are straight up DS3. Actually, most of how the game setup is pretty much DS3. However it does have some major issues. Not sure if just the xbox version or what. But I'm putting off playing anymore until that patch comes out. Because it has some major performance issues. Frame rate drops, pop ins, hitching/stuttering, potato graphics in spots and some goofy animations. Like in some of the cut-scenes (game rendered and pre-rendered) the character does not appear to be connected to the world. Like he is moving independently of the rest of the world/scene. Its, extremely odd. But Unreal Engine is also a steamy pile of crap these days.

I only played for about an hour. But so far, this seems like it has potential to be one of the best souls clones. I do also however think this lamp mechanic and going back and forth between realms is going to be over used and outstay its welcome. Its already some what annoying how much its used in the first bit of the game. Again, only an hour, but I feel the game would be better without it. Oh, I almost forgot, I had two cut-scenes randomly end on me before they were actually over. So, fudge the story at this point, I have no idea whats going on in that regard. And honestly don't care. Just want the game play. Its a souls clone.

So the xbox patch came out today. They made it sound like it wouldn't be until next week. Its the same one as PC and PS5 now as far as I can tell. Still needs more patches however, but it seems like it will be playable now at least. It fixed most of the hitching/stuttering. Doesn't happen during combat anymore, but happens anytime you use the lamp. And there are still some random potato graphics, but way way less. I think this could be due to using performance and not quality mode. So I can live with the random potato graphic if it means the game will run smoother. The character also moves less weighted now, its more floaty. I don't like that, but I'll look past it for now because I like so much else about the game. Its got decent combat so far. Haven't tried any magic yet. Started as the basic knight with a sword and shield. I can't stress enough how much like DS3, with a hint of Bloodbourn a lot of this game is. I didn't really have a lot of time to play just now, just booted up to download and check it out. But I think its in a decent state to keep playing from what I just experienced. I'll definitely be playing this tonight and over the weekend. Baring any horrible issues I run into.

EDIT: yeah scrap that. this still isn't playable. Should have been delayed another year. Game needs massive work. Tried to take on the first boss, and it potato graphics everywhere and 10fps during the entire fight. I can't even do the fight because its so bad. It also freezes/stutters/hitches every 5 seconds, for about a full second. Its insane. How the fudge can games continually be released like this.

EDIT 2: Turning hdr off at the console level has fixed a lot of the graphical/performance issues. It actually runs way smoother now. And no more potato graphics either.

EDIT 3: Didn't last long. Guess on the shelf this goes until a bunch of patches come out. Too bad. I was looking forward to playing this.

Well, thats super disappointing to hear. Was hoping to play Sunday.

I had to change the pickup location for my Ps5 copy but overall I'm reading PS5 is far better than Xbox. Best Buy where I pre ordered it didn't even get a copy. I also set the steel book to ship.

If it sucks performance wise I'll just wait to play. I technically only paid $20+ tax with a $50 Gift card I got from work via this Bravo recognition system.

Yeah, from what I'm reading on reddit the PS5 version is actually best version. The xbox version is utter trash. And the PC version doesn't sound like its much better for most people. But most PS5 users are saying its fine. Seem odd. Maybe its time I buy a new PS5 controller and dust off the PS5.

I’ve been playing ps5 for 3-4 hours. It’s fine. Some stuttering in cut scenes, some really annoying collision detection / environmental impedance with attacks- otherwise it’s ok. Not liking the dark realm stuff at all so far. It looks better than I expected too.

Matchmaking is not working it seems. A few bosses in and it’s just not right. One shot literally. Lots of weapons drop but they need stats and leveling is a real grind. A buff to exp gains is needed pretty badly here.

Stumbled upon the joy of dual wielding flaming axes and things are looking up. Smash.

Sounds like PS5 has a save corruption issue. Lots of people reporting corrupted/delete saves. And losing entire days worth of play time because they have to download from the PS+ server from before they started playing today. This launch is a hot mess. I guess no one should be buying games on day one anymore. No game launches smoothly it seems anymore.

Ugh. This game is a messy slog. The targeting is off and causes flailing deaths frequently- there are entirely too many spongy enemies placed in sequence. This world is nice but the idea to make it pretty much a linear run with obscene numbers of cheesey mobs with range etc is an awful design choice. Not enjoying it much. Going to stick with it but about 10 hours and it is getting worse and worse more of the same.

@feeb Yeah I didn't get far before shelving it to wait for patches. But the more I read of people playing on PC and PS5 that have gotten far, most have nothing but bad things to say. Super dense enemy placement. Ranged wizard enemies that can snipe you with locked on projectiles from farther away than you can render/see. The auto lock on swapping to super far away enemies. Seems the game has a bad amount of artificial difficulty stuff, along with horrid balancing.

Oh I also read today they remove the bonfires (forget what they are called) in NG+. From what I played, there is already so little of them. You go for such a long time between if you don't have one of those seeds to grow a temporary one. And you can only have one of those at a time. And then in NG+ they thought it would be a good idea to just remove them entirely.

Yeah it’s looking like the reviews at 5-6 are correct so far. The targeting has to be one of my biggest gripes. A huge mechanic is enemies spawning into the realm - you cannot target them for a good second after they appear. This is causing me to flail at nothing, lose the camera and fall repeatedly etc. that single issue has caused me a ton of time.

Sounds like the new LOTF is just as messy as the original one. Think it’ll be a hard pass and/game pass title for me.

I played a couple hours just now. As there was a new patch today. Still not great, but a bit better. Anyway, fudge the swamp and these drops to 2fps. Holy fudge. Blight town aint got nothing on this crap. I've never experienced anything like that in a console game before. Not even the fabled Lichdom Battlemage was that bad. And that game is famous for its horrific frame rate on PS4/Xb1.

It's just so sad that this is (and has been) the new norm. Rush to meet a date with issues and patch later.

Yet in the modern world of agile development and MVP delivery, ti's part for the course for today's SDLC.

So uh, yeah. I refunded this on xbox and bought it on PS5 after watching some game play videos of that. And holy crap. This is a different game. It looks fantastic compared to the xbox version. Like I can't fathom how its such a pile of crap on xbox compared to this version. This is not the first game this year with this issue either. It also does not have the performance issues. No hitching, no stuttering. No crazy frame drops (I'm not at the swamp yet but the xbox version had them everywhere). This is like night and day. It actually looks really good. And plays so much smoother. Its like I was playing the PS3 version on my xbox. I'm glad I went and finally bought a new PS5 controller. Its been too long since I've used this system. Pretty much been using the SX all year.

Aside from the messy targeting it plays rather well on ps5.

Just opened the LotF CE. Sadly, doesn't feel worth the money. It's a decent enough statue and all (pretty cheap materials unfortunately), but should have been $150-$200. They could/should have included something else - light a stand-alone lantern display piece (like the black marker Dead Space LRG CE).

It's really odd/dumb that they want you to use the box for display purposes. As they built a light inside the box, that can be turned on with a remote. I dunno, maybe If I had proper shelves and room, I'd use the box ...

Also, someone sell me their Best Buy steelbook!

Couple hours in, digging it! Changing from quality to performance cleaned up most of the stuttering.

Second boss (scourge lady something or another)... Was she supposed to do basically nothing? That may be one of the worst/easiest bosses in a soulslike.

I think you can also summon an NPC at every major boss as well. And you can not at a mini.

Level 30, don't want to stop playing. Definitely better than lies of P as of now.

The occasional performance issues do suck, but they're pretty infrequent.

So I played some. I definitely like it better than Lies of P, but enemies aggro way too easily and never give up chasing you. Pretty annoying. You also can't get hit climbing ladders. Parry window is way better than Lies. Blocking mechanic is interesting. But so far the main gripe is enemy aggro. You can not get anywhere near some enemies and somehow they know where you are.

You can get hit on ladders- by spells etc. it’s fun.

Still feels like a sloggy mess imo. The areas are so convoluted and enemy placement is cheesey. I’m probably 75% through now. It’s gotten a bit tiresome and I’m considering putting it aside for a bit. Too much souls like this month and I’m not really having fun with this one so far.

I heard the checkpoint bonfire thingies are few and far between but I just watched a Fightin’ Cowboy video and it didn’t look that way at all. Looked like lots of bonfire warp points. I may get it on a Black Friday sale perhaps.

And they cost like 3500. Fun grind. Can combine it with a weapon upgrade grind I guess.

I seem to be worse at parrying in LotF than I was in P.

Man I don't want to stop playing. Having a damn good time. Hit 3 on the umbral meter, my God I got wrecked.

Reading the last few comments, I knew burning those temp bonfires was prob a bad idea. Really cool mechanic though.

Red lanterns are a great idea as well.

I do hate how the bigger swords just lunge you around. I've fallen off ledges multiple times because of it. Now I find myself doing an R2 poke more often than not.

The targeting will get you more than the mobs. Sometimes random mobs just cannot be targeted until they see you / take damage etc. it’s frustrating.

Fudge, I stayed up way too late playing this. Tomorrow is gonna suck. Got to the something or other saint. It was the headless horseman. Man do I hate gimick boss fights.

Yeah, I'm definitely noticing it but maybe when I go back I'll level up a bit. Got close a couple of times too. Trying to parry kill for the most part.

Also for everyone, make sure you have your consoles level HDR settings turned off. Turning this off really improves performance of the game. And most games actually, because most devs are crap at HDR. And in the game settings, make sure its on performance and that the three settings below are set to off, motion blur, film grain and chromatic. This really improves the FPS of the game.

I feel like mine is running pretty smooth. I don’t usually get too concerned about occ small FR drops though. I don’t even notice tbh. I guess mega man ruined me.

What is everyone's opinion of the jump in this game? I think its bad. Its like you hit a wall and don't go far enough. Its very odd. I died a whole bunch trying to figure out the range of it early on. I don't miss judge jumps that often now, but it still feels off to me.

It sucks because you have to use it a few times. I wish it was not a thing.

Resuming... Used the Pilgrims Perch key by the bonfire (blind Agatha - there's an npc, elevator, dude with a nail helmet, and a holy shield guy).

Is this spot supposed to be massively more difficult than anything prior? I'm getting salty at how much I'm getting whooped here. Feels like I need to move on.

That’s pretty much end game area. You also don’t need to buy the key you get it from normal progression. Definitely don’t waste seeds there unless you just need the thrill.

I almost forgot about this, not sure how. I was invaded last night for the first time. This dude had a cross bow that fired 3 shots in a row. And the three bolts fired extremely fast. And they instantly killed me. I have around 600 health. Which so not even a boss can one shot me, let alone 3 tap me like that. I'm not sure if this dude was on PC and cheating, or if there really is a crossbow that strong in the game. If so, seems highly unbalanced. Either way I turned off cross play because of it. Since it is only with PC and not with other consoles. Which defeats the whole point of cross play. PC online will always just be riddled with cheaters.

I'm still trying to beat this stupid Pieta.

There is one respec item you can get from the umbral vendor in skybridge (hub) for 8K vigor. But its the only one you can get for some time. So if you use it, make sure its what you want to respec to.

Yeah, you can buy one from the dude in the hub. From facing the vestige in the hub, turn left and go straight through the door, then take a left. That dude is the radiance vendor. He also sells a few radiance spells.

I like the ssaling on the umber catalysts. I rolled the inferno class, got the axes that scale inferno and pumped radiance. The umbral stuff is pretty nasty. The axes are great too.

So Pietas sword seems pretty badass... I'm so heavy into strength tho. Is it worth respecing? Looks like there are later game options for respec. Just so tired of the Crimson Rector Sword.

I'm not sure how many there are in the game, I think only a few. But there is the plucked eyeball shrine next to Mulhu in skybridge. When the community gets that to level 2 by donating plucked eyeballs it will unlock an unlimited amount to be bought. But I think you have to buy them with plucked eyeballs. The item you get for using a red lamp and killing the beefed up enemy who killed someone else.

Yeah I saw that and looks like you need 75 of the eyeballs as well. So it will definitely take some time to get the mats, but it looks like we're not too far off from tier two. It just seems like the radiant stuff is better than strength. Of course every Soul's game I've ever played I always go caster first and then I go back and do other builds this time around I wanted to start with strength and I think I picked wrong so far.

There is a “multi shot crossbow” you can loot pretty late.

Mendacios Visage is a real Mcbutt-hole.

Just rolled the credits for first run. This was a solid 7 with a shot at 8 if it’s cleaned up. From late mid game forward it becomes an absolute slog. The last areas are basically run like hell and plant a seed, farm more if you’re out. The mob density, type and placement are all absolutely terrible. I give it a 6 in its current state. This one has the base of a great game- very deep systems, toms of items, some cool enemies etc. Rushed and got caught by the git gud curse of needing to be much harder than it should be- mostly through crapty environmental deaths and chains of elite mobs. Ugh. I’m glad it’s over and don’t think I’ll platinum this one unless it’s significantly cleaned up.

125. I’ve got 5 more levels already with the boss currency I spent afterward. Guess I should have bought more babies in case I ever do go to NG.

These NPC / vendor quest lines are nuts. I screwed them all up. Wondered where the inferno spells were all at.

Shame to hear about the end as so far I'm really enjoying it. Sad to hear (and I think I'm now seeing it) that they had to go all dark souls with the obscure quests that require the internet.

Just made it past the first beacon area, into the gorge. The sword of pieta is insanely better than the bs I was rocking before.

Definitely the type of game I want to keep playing. Damn wife and kids!

Oh yah, and in by looking for the BB steelbook (bought one) I'm seeing people are selling in game items on ebay already? Looks like a dupe glitch was already found.

I looked for a roadmap before I started. There wasn’t a complete one so I just winged it. But yeah these NPCs sell stuff you need for trophies etc. there is way too much stuff it wants you to collect. The game was very fun until it got stupid - there’s just too much of it to keep balanced and make it “hard” without resorting to lazy artificial difficulty. I hope they patch some sense into the later areas. I think I said “this is fudging awful” out loud about a dozen times in the last area.

Lies of P never felt that way. It was always very fair and became comfortable with practice. This one almost gave me anxiety attacks so I said fudge it, time to sprint through this mess.

I'm pretty sure I've already failed multiple quest lines. But I'm not looking stuff up until I finish this first run. I've only looked up a few things like respec items, and how to get coins and eyes and just like that. Avoiding the wiki entirely until first run is done. But I know for a fact I fudgeed up at least two peoples quest lines. I think possibly more. One of them has straight up just vanished from the game. And the other asked me to do something, and I didn't do it before he moved to another area, and now he says he did it himself, lol.

A few of them I thought I was keeping up with but I didn’t completely? Exhaust their dialogues and they disappeared from the game. Some of them I found items for and there was absolutely zero chance I was going back to them. Just not worth the headache because of how far from the items they were.

Did a bit of NG+. The no shrine idea is a disaster. You do get to warp to the base one and your current seed but that is it. The bosses are literally sponges. It feels like an mmo raid on main bosses now. Summoning others is almost necessary and they get absolutely waxed pretty fast. I’m not seeing this as being something I’d stick with.

They just released a new patch for PC (consoles are now 2 patches behind). Hopefully these hit consoles tomorrow or maybe Friday. They reduced the costs of seeds to 1200. And they said the re-balanced all bosses in NG+, because they now realize based on player feedback they made them too tough for just one jump up in the cycles, lol.

That’s good to see. They just need to let the shrines and fast travel be a thing. It’s a waste of time, not a change in difficulty.

PSA. I did not spend a single attribute point in stamina / endurance. Easily pulling off 4 hit combos and escaping, launching spells etc. it’s the most overrated stat in souls games. I didn’t spend points in it in LoP either. Bloodborne turned me into a mover and not a blocker. Only parries. There is a ring that increases it and speeds recovery. If you need anything more that would be enough. I can still equip whatever I want with no consequential reduction in movement etc. since this game encourages aggression I don’t want a stat that lends to turtling.

If I PvP more I’d likely respec this.

That is fully dependent on your play style. You have to have stamina if using colossal weapons. One swing of a colossal sword will deplete almost your entire stamina bar at default levels. You have to level it up to get off the combo. The heavier the weapon the more stamina it needs to swing.

By the time I’ve found one of those weapons I’m usually already set in a play style that I’ve spent time learning. There is a ton of value in doing what you’re good at regardless if something may be easier. Watching videos of folks using these weapons- they usually have a shield and the heaviest armor- but two hand it. Just feels like such a waste to build up for that. I guess it’s easier, fun in the end. I 100% disagree that a point in stamina is never a waste- as the souls wisdom says- it’s possibly 3 more damage points somewhere else, or a step towards taking another hit.

I do like how both hp and stamina give you equip load. I also like extra stamina, especially in this game when you're getting bombarded in hoards of mobs. I've had more Stam than vit so far.

This game feels different in that your build needs to get you to the boss- whereas other souls like the build is to get by the boss. It’s interesting to see the different way folks get it done. There are definitely hordes of mobs in this game- from thin air, from the ground etc.

I might put this one to the side for awhile. They're updating it a lot. And yet Starfield is getting like no updates.

This game and Remnant 2, the devs are out there releasing multiple patches a week to fix things and change things for QoL based on player feedback. Starfield had one small one to basically just to remove a loot exploit and fix a couple PC issues. Yet Skyrim still has the same loot exploits, as does Fallout 4. Like, what even are their priorities? People still have game breaking progress bugs in that game. But lets make one to take out a minor exploit in a single player game.

Just beat another gimmick boss. This is the third one so far, it better be the last. I really fudging hate gimmick bosses. It was super easy. But fudge, make a real boss fight.

@Archer was it Spurned Progeny? The big goofy fire dude? This seems like an easy fight but just died 3x in a row. This last round he pulled a new instant giant fireball one shot kill bs.

There are lots of gimmick main bosses - loosely defined. I recall 2-3 straight up fights including the first main boss.

Yeah I actually saw some of those posts this morning and it's making you think I should stop doing multiplayer. I've just had a blast especially invading somebody and there's two people in it I have one most of my matches and it's just been a lot of fun.

I'm definitely going to drop this for now and wait for more updates. PC is getting them frequently but console is always a wait. 0 interest in PvP though

@kommie I just avenged you. I'm pretty sure no one else has named their character Kommie in the game. I just used a red lamp and killed the fire sword guy at the starting area before the first boss. I was farming him for his sword. And it made me laugh when it showed the red name as Kommie. But you are on my PSN friends list so not that surprising I guess.

I farmed that guy for a bit. The later ones in fire town and castle area have a much higher drop rate. Make sure you buy the rabbits foot to raise your discovery too.

Yeah, this is not an enjoyable area by any means.

It’s much more efficient to corpse drag yourself through it unfortunately. The mobs are sponges and too dense. Plus the one hit projectile snake butt-holes.

I truly hope end game doesn't spoil the experience because as of now the game has been fantastic.

So thats over. Not sure how I feel about NG+ right now with console being so far behind on patches. We don't have the NG+ fix for hyper HP yet. I might hold off until that hits. I surprisingly completed about half the npc quest lines without looking anything up.

That is basically the build I was using until I respeced when I got to the castle. But I was using the bloody glory sword. As it does a whopping 300 points of bleed damage per strike. So two strikes gets you a massive bleed pop and huge chunk of their health removed on the tanky ones and bosses. I'd do the charged heavy, then follow up with a quick light attack. But once I got to the castle it was unmanageable to play that way in that area. So I respeced to use dervala's crossbow and just took everything out from range. I fudging love that thing. It made that area cake. I might have to repsec for ng+ however.

Also fextras wiki for this game is a mess. The worst one they've ever done. Its so bad. Missing so much info. Most of the descriptions of how to get items are like trying to read directions from a 5 year old. And a lot of the info is just flat out wrong.

I uploaded my save prior to starting NG and just restored it so I can clean up chunks etc. I missed tons of stuff - some that I even cleared huge areas to find- I missed that eye that he uses in the video- but I was in the area and just didn’t see it.

Yeah, my plan is to get as much as I can done before moving on as well. So I can speed through the next two ng cycles without having to worry about doing too much in each one. Not even sure why I'm going to bother getting the plat. But here we are.

NG+

Added a new NG+ option that resets the game world, allowing you to restart with your current character level in the same world.

From today's patch onward, now when you complete your initial playthrough, you will be presented with a new option before embarking on your next runthrough; you can either progress directly to the next consecutive NG (i.e if you’ve just completed NG+1, you would move onto NG+2), or you can replay the current NG at the same difficulty, albeit retaining your character, items and progression, but resetting the entire world, including NPCs and questlines. This will allow trophy hunters and completionists to seek out any outstanding tasks without having to contend with increased difficulty, should they so choose.

A further patch this coming Thursday will see further updates made to the NG+ mode; instead of removing all vestiges (as it does currently), NG+1 will only see a few disappear while keeping the key locations intact. In NG+2, a few more will disappear, and then in NG+3 all but the main HUB (Skyrest Bridge) and Adyr's Shrine vestige will disappear. This way, our initial vision remains intact but is more of a gradual adaptation, awaiting those who seek increasing levels of challenge.


Enemy Density

We've improved the leashing system where enemies will stop pursuing you after a certain distance (varies by situation). This prevents overwhelming crowds of enemies if you rush through a map section.

Today as a means of helping with enemy density, we're improving our 'leashing' system, further limiting how far enemies will pursue players from their spawn point. This helps prevent large crowds of enemies from relentlessly pursuing the player when rushing through a level.

We aim to have further refinements in Thursday’s patch, including reducing the number of enemies present in areas where players most struggle. These enemies will be removed in your initial playthrough, but will remain in NG+, in keeping with the more challenging experience players are seeking.

Additionally, we are going to tweak some crowd behaviors so enemies will not swarm players as often; multiple enemies will no longer land hits at the same time,while enemies will also be a little less aggressive when swarming the player in greater numbers.

I feel like they are missing the whole point of the complaints about NG+ and losing vestiges. Its not that we don't want the increased difficulty. Its just that not having them is just a waste of the players time. It doesn't add to the difficulty. You have to run from zone to zone and back track everywhere. Its bad design and they refuse to admit that.

Hmm, yeah. I still haven't played in a couple days. Seems like waiting for patches seems like the best thing to do for now.

Based on the language in the cross play part of the patch notes, it sounds like console might be getting a big patch with all the previous ones this Wed or Thursday. As they state cross play will be re-enabled on Thursday. So in order for that to happen, all versions will have to be the same.

The radiant van helsing starting class you get after finishing is very op. This is so much more new player friendly.

No vestiges in NG sounds absolutely awful.

Also, so are runes that improve scaling definitely broke? I think I'm hitting harder haven't tested, but scaling isn't changing on the weapon description.

I hate how the quests are so confusing. I haven't cleansed any beacons yet to keep Damarose in the game. Yet she needs the lightreaper flesh... But he's not in his last spot - because you have to cleanse the beacons. So TF? Did you have to kill the lightreaper on one of first two encounters?

It looks like some of the quests and gear are only obtainable for certain playthroughs.(which beacons you do or don’t activate ) I’m waiting on the powerpyx guide to go up before attempting again if I do. There are like 30 steps to properly doing the umbral ending it seems.

Yet still no UI fix for rune scaling

I've been invading others constantly, but never got invaded, till now. Got invaded by someone on Xbox, used an item to prevent me from healing, and just lit me up with inferno spells. Gdamnit!

I got invaded non stop. I’d switch to settings and turn off connection- because asshats always popped in the middle of a difficult area. Not sure how it works if it’s area specific etc.

I still can't buy the rebirth chrysalis from the eye ball vendor. I have 99. It costs 75. It tells me I don't have enough.

Hyper HP on bosses was not fixed in NG+ for console in this patch.

The Lightreaper still has insane HP in the first encounter after the tutorial guy. I was doing 3-4K damage per attack and took off the tinniest sliver of health on the bar per attack. After 10 attacks he was only down to ~90% of his bar. That means I did a minimum of 30K damage and only took off 10% of his total. WTF. That isn't fixed. That means he has 300K HP in NG+. I'd have to land 100 attacks on him to kill him. That is fudging insane.

Unless this specific encounter is just setup this way. I'm not sure. I'll progress to Pieta and see what she is like. But if she is the same, I'm shelving this again until Thursday to test again. Because I'm not going to spend 30 minutes chipping away at the later game bosses.

I cooped that with a dude the other night and we fought him for about 15 minutes. Got him to about 30%. It was in clean run though. It was definitely not that kind of damage.

So its just him apparently. Because they want you to die to him in that tutorial area I think. Pieta did not have that kind of HP. In fact I think she only increased maybe 10%. I took her down super easy.

I’m trying to make a jump to collect an eye. It repeatedly stutters and makes me miss the jump. I’m not sure why I keep playing this tripe.

Where is this? The only jump I remember making me rage was the one for a saintly quintessence in Sunless Skain. Probably missed the jump 30 times before I realized I could just run off the edge and land safely.

I decided to just go into NG+ now. And its really not that bad so far. I made sure I had 5 seeds before going and any upgrade materials I may want I grinded out to purchase from the smith. Because you can't talk to her in NG+ until you get all three items for her. Or your runes get unsocked without any way to re-add them. I'm also only rushing my objectives though, but so far the no vestiges thing isn't that bad. But I bet its a huge pain the ass once I get to these NPC quests I need to do. Having to run back and forth between areas I can't warp to. Fudge, thinking about that now I should have waited until Thursdays patch. I forgot to disable auto sync on PSN so my save is already overwritten. Oh well.

Woah. I didn’t know that about the smith. I saved up chunks to consider respec etc. bummer. The no vestige thing is just silly though. Not a big deal to buy the seeds- but I can’t even find crap with all the warps open most times. This gonna be a bunch of dashing my ass off.

That's annoying. Just did Co op to beat a boss with someone else to get trophy, 3rd time I've helped someone... Still won't give me the trophy.

Pretty sure you have to be the host, you have to summon someone else. You can't be summoned to unlock it. People were complaining about that when the game first came out.

I also just botched another NPC quest. Because I forgot to die to the boss first so I could then summon this stupid dog for the first of 9 damn summons she needs to complete her quest. So dumb you can't just summon them unless you've died to them once. Why not just it make so you have to be in umbral to see their summon marker.

That says after you give her all three flesh items, you have to continue on and complete the game. She next appears in the final bosses arena after the fight. It also says to make sure you buy all items she sells as this is the last time you gain access to her shop.

Well that was ass. Not sure if the issue is me being in NG+, or it is just the utter crap net code they use.

The psn invites are completely broken, wouldn't try to start a session just give an error on the bottom of the screen. Using the co-op option from the vestige would kick me to a load screen and then refresh back in my world saying unable to start session or join host or connection lost.

Got a tip from reddit... Restart the console. As soon as I did, I can invade/join again. Haven't tried to have anyone join me yet.

I haven’t personally seen the option. But I’ve seen it discussed. They say it appears right after boss fight / credits- problem with this is you have do the to the stigma. visit another location and use the remembrance to get some of the required items for trophies. It’s a mess right now that seems completely counter to their idea- it will prevent you from getting platinum I think.

I think I am completely done with this game. I'm just not having a good time in NG+.

Can you disable invasions? Legit hate that crap in these games.

Well this sucks ... now that I'm at the end, I started to look at the endings. Umbral seems cool, but in order to do so, I have to kill off Grendaline - which means I should have given the table to Sparky --- which I didn't because I read this was the better option as you get that rune. Son of a dog.

Sparky gives a trophy. I just gave it to him and then restored my save. Gren gives you a pretty nice rune.

ha, restarted console, put out for a beacon ... got someone right away. some crappy code if you have to reboot your console to play online effeciently.

Since last patch- if I get a match specific for assisting others- if it works or not- after that it will quickly connect and say lost connection. I have to repower console to get another match after that. It does not seem to affect the invasions. I assumed it was trying to connect me to the same unstable match repeatedly- but it happened every time, for hours unless restart.

New patch today does all the stuff the last pc patch did plus the NG stuff. They’ve also added a pumpkin patch quest for Halloween so you can get a Jack olantern head.

Well since there was a new patch today I'll give it another go. I don't want to be a quitter like theJaw.

Hopefully the hyper HPs of a couple of these bosses are now actually fixed in NG+. And having a couple of the vestiges to warp to for doing npc quest will make it more managable than having to run from one end of the map to the other and then back.

Just did the Halloween event. It’s pretty neat.

Got the plat. Second and third playthroughs went by pretty quick. As I was just running by everything to my objectives. The collection stuff is insane. Way worse than any other souls game that I've played. So many damn armor pieces you have to farm. The other big pain in the ass was tracking down a stigma I missed. There are 62 stigmas. One locked behind each of the endings. And 4 from that one boss in 4 arenas you have a chance of fighting him in.

@MrBean Figured out the co-op boss trophy only pops if you help someone beat one of the 5 main bosses guarding a beacon. And both players get it when the boss is beaten. Doesn't matter if host or summon. If you need this still and can't get a random hit me up.

Archer, I got it by rebooting console and summoning. As soon as they show up, it popped the trophy.

I still haven't finished, haven't played anything for several days. Don't remember where I left off but pretty sure I'm at the end. Hopefully wrap it up soon.

I pretty much only have the umbral ending left. Just figured out opening the winterberry vendor lets you buy the item find 3 paws. That’s huge for some of the ultra rare drops. Hopefully I’ll get some time to wrap it up soon.

The Halloween event has a boss fight at the end. Not too bad but a variant on the red reaper with no healing allowed.

I'm still debating whether or not I do the umbral ending as my first ending. My fear is not having grendoline to be able to support me in the dlc. Because I don't plan on starting an ng.

The biggest thing she offers is a rune that allows you to ignore a weapons requirement if it’s slotted- if you give her all 3 quest items.. You can prolly get it beforehand- I wouldn’t be too concerned about anything else since she doesn’t offer much as vendor and sparky can provide upgrades and runes at vestiges.

Oh yeah, I read about it ... and for some stupid reason, picked her for the tablet, so I lost Sparky. To get umbral, I have to kill her ... which means, I can't do any more upgrades - aka dumb AF.

I mean at this point I don't see changing gear, and I'm upgraded. I just wanted to leave my game pre-NG for quick dlc jump in. Killing off the uograde vendor may bite me in the ass.

I want to be able to (dunno if I will) play the dlc without having to go through the game again. I tend to leave these games at those stages, but still roll a new toon years after dlc to play it.

I dig the idea of NG+ and what not but hard to justify the time with so much in the backlog. So replaying years later is typically what works best for me.

There are so many weapons to try too. I’d like to try to build a range / crossbow or throwable. I did three mains, a shield and a catalyst to 10. Wish they’d just not be stingy with that last mat. Not sure why everyone wants to do that- unlimited up to 9. Souls way I guess.

It goes super fast when all you are doing is rushing your objecting and running by everything, lol. Second ending for me took 6 hours with doing 2 NPC quests and just that ending. Third took me 3 hours with 2 NPC quests and just that ending. As long as you remember the pathing its very fast.


No, save it for last. There is a major bug that hasn't been patched yet that fudges up all your NG cycles afterwards once you do it. So do not do it first. The NPCs come back when you reset the game world. But the issue is the rune of adyr and not being able to open the castle to finish another cycle. This has fudgeed thousands of players over who did the umbral ending first.

I did this last night after seeing your post. I was disappointed in what the boss was. I was expecting something new, not a reused boss.

Those feel a bit inflated. Most vestiges have a hotspot for lanterns- but they seem to sho every 2-3 resets, require online and only give 3 per. I traded most of mine for scourings since you also have to buy the 50 scouring cost item for umbral / npc quest too.

Also none of those are required for the trophies, so I wouldn't waste time farming for them unless you really like how they look. And there is an item Mulhu sells, the weird eye thing that shows as 10 in stock. If you use that it supposedly increases the amount of red lanterns you see in your world. Also if you have a VPN, for some odd reason Australia gets insanely high amount of the covenant items. Something 150 per. And their cost to buy things is half of everyone else. So people have been using a VPN to connect to Aussie land and farm it up faster. At least that is what reddit has lead me to believe. I haven't tried it as I don't care about them.

Those skeleton pieces look super cool though. I wouldn’t mind rocking those before I get blessed in radiant light PvP.

All these big devs are laying off employees. Meanwhile FromSoft put out an ad for a hiring event. Apparently they will be hiring a lot of people. Sounds like a big expansion of the company.

So this all means Elden Rings 2: We are the Lords of the Souls out in March 2024!

Remnant 2 also just had DLC announced. They have also been putting out major patches/changes/updates to that game constantly. Not sure souls with guns is most peoples idea of a good souls like though.

Indeed. That is some bookkeeping. I printed the Powerpyx list yesterday and at 8 point is 18 pages in 3 columns. So much stuff.

Yeah, the gameplay is fun. But wasting all the time to find over 1000 items to collect is not. Too much collectable bullcrap. But that is also on me for spending my time doing it, lol.

Some drops are too common. My inventory has already been full a few times. A few of the drops are probably around 1:100 of those. A certain pilgrim garb, one of the armor sets etc. I just used that as a means to level, grind the eyes etc.

The patch looks to have super saiyan mode the red reaper. Getting those scourings is already pretty bad. I’m glad I got all the items already.

Well crap, boss weapons now go to +10 or something? Haven't logged in yet, I'm at the end and wondering if this is gonna screw me over as I'm rocking light Sabres.

Sounds like they were nerfed and need to get to +10 for full effect. Also sounds like they won’t be nearly as good at least PvP wise. Bricks are discounted at vendor I guess too.

Hope they can be upgraded with materials you have/can get? That post sounds like you don't get enough now with the change.

Chunks are now 150 tokens. A little easier to upgrade to 10 now. Still a bit of work. Maybe easier just to run through the game at the pace I get to assist with bosses.

I don't understand that change. I had to boot it up and look myself. All they did was cut them in half and require you to level them up again. And after that they are only barely nerfed. Pieta's lost 80AR. Corrupt Judge lost 100AR (arguably the best weapon in the entire game no one is using). The poison axe from headless boss lost 60AR. I just don't get it. Its extra steps for no reason. Just nerf the AR and be done with it (more so than they did). This really only effects people still in the first NG cycle who don't have more than the first 4 chunks, and already used them. And those are not the people abusing them in PvP in the first place. So they punished the wrong people. So if not just doing a large AR damage reduction. Why not make an adjustment that is PvP only. I don't get it.

Boards are full of people handing out duped chunks as well. Also- runes- did it remove them since you usually gain more slots?

Just logged in. This is some crap. Not only did they make you have to upgrade another 5 levels, but appears they nerfed large shard drop. I was able to farm these quickly before but now I'm not getting crap. This is annoying.

Oh fun, can't buy more rabbit foots because that dudes gone.

I traded my copy away for now for Armored Core 6. Maybe I'll pick it up again down the road with all the fixes. However, I really hate the enemy placement/density.

They updated the density. I didn't think it was an issue TBH. I see lots complaining that it's too easy now.

I'd like to get back to AC VI at some point.

Gdamnit. I think I biffed the prisoner quest. Didn't realize that's the inferno vendor. She's not at any of the locations. Killed Monarch already and appears that fudgeed it.

It will give you a popup asking you if you want to move up or reset. You can also back out and stay exactly where you are, and then make the choice at a vestige at any time after.

There is (was) an extreme difficulty curve in density, mob HPs and damage output- particularly in the last zone. The density feels much better now and I’m op so I can’t comment on the difficulty. The bosses were almost impossible solo end game NG+ plus but they’re much easier now too.

I saw radiant ending helping someone with coop, and I just did inferno. I mean, they're OK I guess, was hoping for more.

All in all, enjoyed the game quite a bit. I look forward to dlc and future games by this group.

Anyway, 50ish hours later, time to move on to Spiderman!

Felt like every other coop was killing adyr. That fight feels like it was built to coop though. In the end yeah this is a pretty impressive outing for the devs.

@Kommie this original post, I never made the list. I got plat in April of 2022 for ER. I forget now why I had a delayed start... Was wrapping with another game.

Really pumped for Shadow of the Erdtree. Have gotten plat on both pc and ps5, but think I'll roll a third new play through (go dex this time) for the dlc.
