I kinda want to go play the original LotF now. Watching some videos and it feels quite different.

Looks like they're giving out the mats for the boss weapon nerf. Also didn't realize chunks can be farmed now.

Hopefully when I go back to the game it's better. Have they fixed framerate yet? It wasn't quite there last I played after the "fixed framerate" update.

Largely. There are still occasional stutters. Isn't that bad.

I can’t believe they have not addressed the target / lock on. I’ve trained myself to manually aim projectiles quite accurately. Often it just refuses to target mobs in range. And when you click target it follows the camera so you’re now facing the wrong way etc

They’ve addressed the lock on it seems.

“Developer Hexworks revealed the changes in a Reddit post, saying it's "delighted to share with you the next big optimization update, which also marks the start of our ongoing PvP/PvE balancing split, as well as the much requested improvements to the lock-on system and boss difficulty increases."

The boss overhaul comes as a result of player feedback and internal findings that many bosses in the game, which come at the core of Lords of the Fallen's Souls-like gameplay, "simply weren't posing enough of a challenge".

I finally started up Elden Ring yesterday after waiting for the right combination of hardware and time off. Thanks to Flawless Widescreen (and not to From), it's running in 3440x1440 and anywhere from 75 to 120fps with everything (except motion blur and ambient occlusion), including ray tracing maxed. For two years or whatever it's been I've been curious about how Souls works with an open world, and now I am starting to get it. I suspect I'm going to need to keep a notebook nearby for things I want to come back to. I wish it had map marking with text like Valheim, but this is obviously a console-first game and thus the need for mods to enable ultrawide in 202X.

Man, I'd love to relive the first time playing ER.

In retrospect considering an open world dark souls just sounds wrong. A large part of the charm was the interconnectedness of the world and zones. That doesn’t really exist in ER and definitely takes from the ingenuity of the world design for me. I’d still prefer the meat without the bread and just give me the actual real souls areas in a bunch. I’m still not understanding why this one is so highly revered. Everybody caving to the huge map craze.

Agreed, I'd prefer a proper DS4 in comparison.

All three DS's are awesome but have flaws. Be amazing to see them perfect the original formula.

I mean I'm not gonna replay ER 90 times but I thought it was a fine game. If nothing else, it was great to see what this design could look like when it was laid out macro instead of micro. For what it is, it won't be beaten.

I really enjoyed Remnant 2 once I got past the initial issues of the game. Like its horrible mobs in the first area it dumps you in. Which I found out later is actually random. Not everyone starts on the desert planet. Its not a great map to start the game on. Its the only map where enemies will spawn behind you constantly. And you will get mobbed by large groups of flying enemies. But overall I really liked it. Ended up getting 100% in it. Liked it so much I actually went back and played the first one directly after. Which is good, but not as good as the second game.

Trying to recruit my friend in the UK to snag both ... the helmet is limited to 9999 supposedly, and no clue if we're getting in the states. Safe to assume we'll get the CE.

ok, figured it out ... it's a combo of address + card that defines a distinct order.

It's kinda crapty that Elden Ring's premium edition (with Malenia helmet) was $300. Now for the CE + Meessmer helmet - it's $490 (have to pay $30 for shipping twice).

oh, and that doesn't even include the base game, nor a physical disc for the DLC ... just a voucher.

I love these guys, their games are fantastic, but c'mon, that's milking it a bit much.

Oh well, I'm a sucker, got both.

Digital only so far for the game right? Like base game was on disc but not erd tree in the ce. Hoping some random region will get it on disc or some eventual full release.

Yeah, I can't imagine it will be longer than 20-25 hours then. Which is about how long all of their DLC ends up being. Which is why I balked at the $15 price increase for it.

I think I’ll wait for a sale. Got plenty to keep me busy until that discount hits.

Apparently to combat the insane levels of power you can reach in ER, in the DLC they are implementing the Sekiro level up system. Which I assume to mean you have to beat bosses to level up and there are no runes in that area.

I’ve been feeling like getting back into Elden Ring. Stopped after the literal firsthand main boss because tbh I felt fulfilled with that lol. I also had to do that early game cheese to level up in order to do it so I can’t imagine I’ll be able to make it much further. Awful at From games. But I do love the art direction and world in general so I may give it another go.

I'm trying to wrap up a few smaller games, and planning on a 3rd run before the DLC. Such a great game.

Started my 3rd Elden Ring playthrough - dex/bleed build - what it seems like everyone did the first time originally.

First build was a bit scattered, but more so int focused. Second round was str/fth (holy ez mode). This time, I'm excited to try something different.

Dual wield is fun and all, but it's odd not being able to block nor parry.

Feeling a bit weak so far, but having fun all over again.

Man, I love how dual wield just forces you to play way more aggressive. No hiding behind shields, no pew pew from distance.

Got the Nagakiba with Bloody Slash, which is just a bit op'd, but lots of fun.
My Uchigatana has Blood Blade, but I rarely use it.

I debate moving to Moonveil, but want to stick with dex/arcane and see how this plays out. So far, it's become pretty overpowered.

Haven't dug too deep yet, but is Rivers of Blood still a thing? I seem to remember that being everyone's favorite, but thought it got nerfed. I think that's way latter in the game though.

Man, this time I really wanted Dung Eater summon ... screwed up Seluvis, and now can't get Dung.

It was my own stupid fault. Went too far with Rannis line (after reading a post saying that was how to fix it) because I couldn't find Seluvis... Because I was in the wrong damn tower! Haha

Jesus you'd think after 3 times I'd remember something this basic by now, gdamnit.

Debating a restart but already 30 hours in. Oh well, I've never used Mimic in the past, maybe it's time to go that route.

Clearly just talking to myself at this point but I'm amazed that of my 3 runs, this is the first time I have took down Black Knife Tiche the first round. She was a struggle on my other builds.

I gave up on dual katanas in favor of 2h Elenoras Pole. Absolutely some cheese elements with it but super fun and way more interesting than any other weps I've used.

Yet again, melee is more op'd and easier than a casting build. If I go another round, think I want to play with fist weapons for even faster speed.

You jumped back in too early my dude. The DLC drops in like 7 weeks or something. You probably wont want to come back to it. You'll be done with the game in a week or so. And then just weeks later the DLC.

There's a demo for a game called Morbid: The Lords of Ire on Steam, it's related to a similar game with the same sort of name but I didn't like that one. This one is.... okay. Better. Got to the boss and it after phase 1, there's another phase and I gave up after that. Small enemy variety in this demo. There is a block/riposte feature that needs to be used.
