1-Aug-2023(#9)Well even with the LeBron James and Spiderman 2 Covers out, I went ahead and ordered the Grey Camo covers I have been wanting. The Spiderman 2 Covers look cool but ultimately I prefer the Camo ones for the long haul. Not sure if I will order the Spiderman 2 controller (if it comes back) as I have a camo one I have yet to open from last years Christmas sale on them. When I do play on PS5 seems I always need two to make it through a play session. Red, Blue & White rockin right now and soon the camo one.
Which controller is your go to color? Also with the interchangeable covers makes the limited edition systems not as exciting to grab which actually is nice for as expensive as the PS5 is currently.
I thought the PS4 Spiderman Console was one of the best and always wanted it and assumed I would get the next one if they made it but just dont have the urge. $600 is just to much, when you already have one.

7-Aug-2023(#26)Its a great game, I got 100% 3 different times. I highly recommend it if you never played before. Do undead nightmare after the main story as it has major spoilers. I might do it again depending on which DLC trophies are added.

* 7-Aug-2023(#28)Feeb wrote:> Complaints are no MP. So no more MP trophies?
That would be great actually. All the bad trophies were MP related. I didn't care for the MP in this game or RD2, just not my thing. I did like the co-op missions and taking on hideouts with others, so that will be missed. The actual PvP wasn't that fun to me.
If this is a straight port I can see why they would just scrap the MP. It has been a mess for a long time because of hackers ruining the servers. Rockstar would reset the servers and you could play for a few days or even weeks then they would get messed up again. I guess given the way the game is coded and the older tech they couldn't do anything to stop it. Just reboot the server to temporarily fix it.

This is something we can agree on.
When I first read about this device, it reminded me of Wii U's much desired 'off screen' play which ended up not having nearly enough range to be useful to me. If I can't go in another room with it, what's the point?
I like the wii u for other reasons, but it was a big disappointment that I couldn't go from the living room to a bedroom in a relatively compact apartment.

Yes this pretty much nails it. I've been spoiled starting with DS and PSP. It's immediately continuing from where you left off. They all can do that, And I still play these systems. DS, Vita, PSP, Switch, 3DS. They said the Portal will be able to turn on and off the PS5. And we know the new systems have a pretty quick resume feature. So it might only be a slight step behind Switch.
WIth me I have my modern consoles hooked up to my 4K projector. So there is a HUGE wait compared to my Switch. I have been playing The Last of us II. But if I can stop and resume within like say 5 seconds. As opposed to 30-60 seconds turning on all my tech like my projector, AVR, and waiting for them to boot up. It would be a HUGE difference and I would probably start playing way more PS4 and PS5 games. As long as physical games inserted into PS5 work. Heck I'd probably sell some of my Xbox multiconsole games and instead buy copies for PS. Resident Evil, Spyro, Mortal Kombat, etc. . Because I'd favor playing on Portal.

Yeah exactly. I have my Vita and Ipad Mini plugged up near bed right now. Man if I had that I could have my "PS5" in bed. Heh heh. This is definitely a personal thing. https://blog.playstation.com/2023/08/23/playstatio...In other words, you can't re-stream to the Portal games that stream to the ps5; only non-VR games that play local on the PS5 are supported. That's what I consider PS Now games, though I guess they don't call them that anymore. I've never actually played a game like that (sort of Stadia-like).
Saying, "PSN Games" may mean different things to people. From my perspective, I only play games I download off of PSN (PlayStation Network) and those are all supported (except VR) as far as I know.

I think it's just to be the same price as the switch lite on the shelf, and have parity with MS and their cloud gaming stuff. I can only imagine how many parents are going to buy it for their kids this Christmas thinking it's a portable PS5 not understanding the fine print. I agree, There is still a lot of value in PS Plus and it's varying tiers.
My take:
I think as gamers we have had it pretty easy and I seem to think gamers have this opinion that inflation should not affect us. Well it does. The cost of running these server farms has gone up from rent and taxes assuming they rent... but one thing for sure is the cost of power to run these vast farms has also gone up. I am sure there are other costs that have been impacted by inflation. It sucks but these costs get passed down. Why people think Sony, MS and Nintendo are our friends I have no bloody clue. They are out to make money and it's that simple. They have share holders to appease... that's business! you don't have to like it, but that is the way it is. Prices going up 20 bux a year is nothing for the value you get. You can call it greed, but IMO that's just the entitlement speaking IMO. If you don't want to pay it then don't. Gaming is a privilege not a right. that maybe a hardnose take that will ruffle feathers but that's the cold hard truth as I see it. PS+ and GP are still very much great values, even with both seeing price increases over the last couple months.

Over the past decade it felt like the Saints Row series just couldn't figure out what it wanted to be. The first three games were great (though #3 is where the series took a new direction) but the three that came after them (including last year's reboot), not so much.
The first three games had their funny moments, but then it felt like they wanted to focus a little too much on the comedy aspect and they didn't even get that part right a lot of the time.
A weird little coincidence that they shut down today and the Saints Row reboot will be one of the PS+ Essential games for September. They could have potentially lured in new fans.

I'm kinda interested. Problem is, the places I'd want to use it (hotel, grandma's house after hours, office, that sorta thing) are not going to have the kind of Internet that the Portal would want, so basically it'd just be a tablet for home use or a really crapty remote experience, and I'm betting most of the reviews are just gonna do in house use cases and be like "it's fine". I'm guessing it won't. They'd have to release it on 2-3 discs, or just have an install disc and most of the game downloaded. Even if that was the case, I would STILL want a physical version. I can wait even if it is really good bc of the huge backlog.

Story and combat save this game. Both are so damn good! The open world is so bad, though. It's Sucker Punch's achilles heel. It's awful in Second Son and it's awful here too. It's just so repetitive and formulaic. It's everything I hate about modern open world game design.

Starting with the PS4 1 TB is was too small. Its really annoying to have to constantly uninstall games to play another. If I am pretty sure I'll never play the game again I'll delete it after I finish, but anything else I like to keep installed. With a 1 TB drive you are lucky to have Destiny 2, Rocket League and COD installed at the same time. Those are games you would play on a regular basis and are really big downloads. It would be silly to delete them every time I wanted to play something different.
250GB was great on PS3 as games weren't that big.

Unfortunately removing it now doesn't really do you any good if that is what they stole. The breach already happened, they already copied the data. I'd recommend turning on 2fa as well if you don't have it already. Its annoying, but you get a text anytime someone tries to access your account.

Most likely they have credentials, not payment information. So I would suggest changing passwords, removing payment info and enabling 2FA

Mayb they hacked into a honeypot server that Sony set up as a red herring, and in all the patting themselves on the back they didn't notice they had stolen nothing of value.

I had no idea the new Saints Row even had DLC. Is it story DLC? I'd actually be up for jumping back into the game if it's story driven. It's not a great game or anything and it's the worst game in the series by a mile, but I had a really great time with it for some season. Just such a shame we'll never get another Volition game.

They released three DLC expansions for the game and depending on when you played it I'm not surprised you didn't know about it because the first didn't release until about 9 months after the game launched, which is way too long imo. What we got out of the reboot wasn't going to hold people's attention for that long, I suspect a lot would've beaten the game and then traded it in by then.
The first expansion was "The Heist & The Hazardous" and it added new weapons, vehicles, cosmetic stuff and 3 new missions to play. The missions are decent, but they're over before you know it.
Second expansion was "Doc Ketchum's Murder Circus" and I actually regret buying this one a little, because it's the only part of the game that can't be played in co-op. It's basically a wave shooter and if you've made a certain amount of progress in the story, you won't be able to use your character in this and will have to choose a premade contestant.
Third expansion is "A Song of Ice & Dust" which I just bought but haven't played yet. It released last month, a full year after the game's launch. It adds 5 new story missions (I think it revisits the LARP stuff from the base game's story) and new weapons and vehicles.
I don't know if I'd call this the worst in the series though. I'm at least committed to going for 100%, the only ones in the series I couldn't do that for were Saints Row IV and Gat Out of Hell. Maybe some day I will go back to them and do that, but I didn't enjoy them enough to do it when I originally played them.

Yea I saw that. I've been playing offline because I like the level of difficulty currently

We still don't really know for sure. They said they would release it if they didn't find a buyer. What if they did?
I've always just used PSN cards to buy things.

* 6-Oct-2023(#303)After Spider-man 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth there doesn't seem to be any big games announced for the future for the PS5 or am I missing them?
Just trying to think probably too soon for another God of War, Horizon or Ratchet game, Uncharted seems dead but maybe they revive it under another developer besides Naughty Dog, speaking of that Last of Us 3 could be a possibility. Ghost of Tsushima sequel would be awesome. These are all first party of course which FF 7 Rebirth isn't but it's console exclusive at least for now.
Uncharted series has sold 41 million copies, 2nd only to Gran Turismo for Sony game series (90 million). It seems hard to believe they're not going to ever make another game.
Edit: Seems Persona 6 will be at least a timed exclusive, can't wait for that.

You are clearly a masochist, playing the worst version of the GTA Trilogy on the worst system to play it on. Unless you mean knights of the old republic? Didn't know that got a normal release

Switch is the best system no matter what! Because it's portable!

6-Oct-2023(#313)Some of the main devs and writers who made GTA and RDR great have left Rockstar. So could we get a Resident Evil 5 or Metal Gear Survive situation? I think GTA 6 will be better than those games but I could see it still being a disappointment in comparison to past GTAs.
Michael Unsworth, a senior writer at Rockstar Games who has worked on some of the company’s biggest hits, appears to have left the famous developer after 16 years. He joins a growing list of veteran Rockstar employees who have departed the company over the last few years.
The other Rockstar vets who have already left
While it’s not uncommon for longtime employees to leave companies, even successful ones, it has become a bit of a trend for Rockstar Games in the last few years. In 2020, both Lazlow Jones and Dan Houser left the popular studio. Jones was a longtime producer and writer who had been with Rockstar for nearly 20 years and worked on every GTA game since GTA III. Houser was the co-founder of Rockstar Games and had been a part of the company since 1998, touching nearly every game the company had ever published or developed.
In 2016, a few years before those departures, longtime Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies left the company after he claimed he was pushed out and filed a lawsuit against Rockstar. The suit ended in 2019 with a confidential settlement.

Don't know if you're being serious or being facetious because you know damn well that $$ is all that has ever mattered. They've just found newer, grosser ways to monetize their content and people keep throwing money at them so why stop?

That's a bit harsh. Both RDRs are fantastic and so was GTAV. Not to mention games like LA Noire, Max Payne, Bully etc. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I'm looking forward to the unveiling for GTA6. Maybe I don't follow gaming news closely enough, but I don't see a reason to outright boycott them. I'll just play the games they make that interest me and skip the ones that don't.
