Bought these a while back and never ended up using them. Looked them up on Ebay and was surprised to see they go for a decent penny. I was about to list them on there, but I figured I'd see if anyone here was interested first. Asking $45 shipped.

Yeah, I think it's just because they're the official Nintendo/Hori brand. I don't think people are buying these to use, I'm guessing they're for collections.
